For years I've been thinking of visiting the waterfalls in autumn colours, and this year I finally made the effort. The oaks were beautifully coloured and I had a. great day just taking it all in. Bright Lanterns is by The Tallest Man on Earth. It's more Lino cutting of xmas cards today.

These Wild comfrey (Cynoglossum virginianum) flowers seem to originate from the downed log but are actually on a long stem from the forest floor. The blossoms are ~1/2" (12.7 mm) across. These are in the shade near the trail at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. I may have to make a return visit with the appropriate macro lens.

The gardens, which are located within the Volkspark, contain about 14.000 flowers of roughly 800 dahlia varieties.
