red-winged fairywren (Malurus elegans), breeding male

Its blue plumage is highly iridescent due to the flattened and twisted surface of the barbules and it reflects ultraviolet light strongly, making it brightly lit to its female counterparts.

Freezing cold, but sunny afternoon. This Daisy seemed to to have enjoyed it. Captured with Tair 11A lens.

Here's yet another shot from our garden a couple years ago. Isn't this red coneflower bright and beautiful?! I just love it! Reds are so difficult to photograph too. This one didn't turn out too badly. Hope you all enjoy!

Hit of the day: Gina Naomi Baez - Thick For The Summer

I so loved Richard Adams' book, Watership Down, not so much the animated movie of the same name, but I absolutely loved Art Garfunkel's song from the movie. Here then is my salute to Bright Eyes and all the rabbits of Watership Down in their quest for happiness.

For those who don't know the song, and those who want to remember, here's a link to Art Garfunkel's s Bright Eyes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a502RejLz8s

Burning like fire, just as Art Garfunkel once sang. This beautiful boy is a ring-tailed lemur. (P7220179)
