High Rise Condos. It might be very cool to have a unit that faces the Embarcadero. I still need a backyard tho, and how do you bring your groceries up?

With essentially the entire Chicago skyline in the distance, a CTA Red Line train departs Wilson on the North Side Main Line, bound for Howard. Shot from the 10th floor of Uptown's Bridgeview Bank Building.
After a surprise sighting of UP 1996, the Southern Pacific Heritage Unit, aka the "Black Widow" on the IHB in Bridgeview, Illinois, a brief chase was in order. I was able to intercept it just fine heading up UP loaded western coal train CEYKS9 (originating on the Craig Branch) pulling through IHB's Blue Island Yard area in Riverdale, Illinois. CN's former Illinois Central Chicago Sub, aka "The Mainline of Mid-America" can be seen crossing over on an overhead bridge in the distance.
UP 1996 is an SD70ACe, and was built by EMD, for Union Pacific in August of 2006.
C&NW GP7Rs 4122 and 4157 (both ex Rock) lead a southbound intermodal transfer on the IHB/B&OCT at Bridgeview IL, Apr 1995.
Barnstaple is the main town of North Devon, England, and possibly the oldest borough in the United Kingdom. It is a former river port, located at the lowest crossing point of the River Taw, flowing into the Barnstaple Bay, south of the Bristol Channel.
From the fourteenth century, it was licensed to export wool, since the merchants claimed that the town had been declared a free borough in Saxon times. This brought great wealth to Barnstaple, whose town centre still preserves a medieval layout and character. Later the town became an importer of Irish wool, but its harbour silted up, and it developed other industries, such as shipbuilding, foundries and sawmills, which today is no longer in use. Its Victorian market survives, with its high glass and timber roof on iron columns. Since 1974, Barnstaple has been a major civil parish governed by its own town council. The parish itself had a population of 24,034 as of 2017.
Looking Westward across the Carquinez Straits and Bridges. San Pablo Bay and Mount Tamalpias (part of the Coast Range) are beyond. This waterway links San Francisco Bay and Sacramento (among many other towns) and was the water highway for California's Gold Rush '49r's. Seen from Bridgeview Park in the beautiful Northern California town of Benicia. It is a large park, but has so many trees that only at this spot can you get this full view. "Can't see the bridges for the trees"!
Beneath the bright Arctic sky, the Saltstraumen tidal current twists and turns with timeless force, carving whirlpools and eddies that mesmerize travelers and locals alike. Spanning this mighty natural wonder stands the Saltstraumbrua, a bridge connecting more than land—it links stories of fishermen, traders, and wanderers who for centuries have crossed these waters.
Saltstraumen is often called the world’s strongest tidal current, where up to 400 million cubic meters of seawater rush through the narrow strait every six hours. The shifting tides have shaped both landscape and livelihoods, offering abundant fishing grounds and a living reminder of the raw power of nature.
Here, history flows with the current: Viking boats once braved these waters, their presence echoing in the eternal rhythm of sea and stone.
Fun fact: Saltstraumen is so powerful that its whirlpools can reach up to 10 meters in diameter and 5 meters deep—strong enough to pull down small boats if they dare venture too close.

NS 8114 ES44AC "Original Norfolk Southern Heritage" unit leads NS 23M west into Harrisburg after sitting most of the day at RUTH.
NS 11R departs Enola to head east over the Rockville Bridge & Harrisburg Line, where it will then head south for the Lurgan Branch. UP 8414 SD70ACe leading!
A highly atmospheric sunset view over a busy waterway, likely a river or harbor near a major city. The sky is dominated by a huge, billowing ** cumulonimbus cloud ** dramatically lit with soft pink and golden hues. Below, dozens of ** cargo ships ** or vessels are anchored in the water, framed by the ** dark silhouette of a bridge ** or railing in the foreground, capturing the industrial beauty of the maritime world at dusk.
Part of the Bridgeview Station Restaurant near the North end of the Tay railway bridge in Dundee is this victorian style railway carriage. Unsure of its provenance, certain fixtures and fittings certainly look original, but whatever its origins it has been much altered for its use of part of the restaurant's café area. Pictured on 5/7/2024.
Have since found a photo of the carriage, from around the mid 2000s, on Flickr while still wheeled which describes it as a former Midland Railway 4 wheeler.

Looking upstream from the riverbank behind the aptly named Bridgeview Inn bed and breakfast is the eastbound half of the last pair of daily passenger trains that still grace the ex Pennsy mainline west of Harrisburg that is now known as Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line. Amtrak's eastbound Pennsylvanian, train #42, from the steel city headed to New York is coming through CP MARY at milepost PT110.9 as it steps out off the west shore to cross the wide Susquehanna River.
The Rockville Bridge was constructed between April 1900 and March 1902 by the Pennsylvania Railroad. The bridge has forty-eight 70-foot spans, for a total length of 3,820 feet and is the longest stone masonry arch viaduct in the world.

NS 8915 C40-9W leads NS 34A (I think) over Rockville Bridge with some incredible atmospheric effects.
When Dad and I left the Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast near Enola, PA for the day we had to cross the Bella Vista Dr overpass that crosses the north end of Enola Yard. I about crapped my pants when we could see NS 911 working a cut of cars under the overpass! After a short wait, NS 911 shoved back into the yard with much rejoicing from us. Naturally I would have preferred the unit not be running bass-ackwards, but it looks pretty cool from this angle.
June 9, 2015.
The Nickel Plate Heritage Unit leads a coal train across the Rockville Bridge as the sun begins to set.
I'm overdue for another visit to Bridgeview Bed and Breakfast, but until then here is another from a couple years ago.
Dramatic background skies help to make a couple drab black mundane GEs interesting as a Norfolk Southern train 6E4-28 (Chicago to Linden, NJ unit ethanol loads) rolls through CP MARY at milepost PT110.9 on NS' Harrisburg Line, the former mainline of the mighty PRR and steps out from the west shore on to cross the wide Susquehanna River.
