The brick kilns serve as a source of livelihood for thousands of unskilled labourers from across the country and from the neighbouring country, Bangladesh. The seasonal nature of the work attracts migrant labour, many of them landless farmers.

The brick kilns workers are recruited arbitrarily by local contractors. Exploitation and complete disregard for existing labour laws is rampant in this sector. As the payment is made to the head of each family based on the number of bricks produced, it is not uncommon to find children involved in the process to maximise income.

First and foremost, his dad Frank W. Cooper was a Jazz Tenor sax player with (friends like Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Quincy Jones, Art Blakey and Thelonious Monk and many others). His mother Vivian P. Cooper, is a gospel singer.

His younger brother Kevin L. Cooper is manager. K. Brick can be seen preforming around Laughlin Nevada, Kingman AZ., Lake Havasu AZ. areas. Plus, many private special events. What a great musician I'll say! I really enjoyed my time spent with Kevin & K. "Brick" Cooper, and the photo shoot as well. Many thanks my brothers...

I asked these two very stylish guys to pose - Hideski on the right is visiting from Japan, Walter (anglicising his name) lives in London - at first I was shooting with the Sony, then I bumped into them again when I was using the Autocord, which is a real talking point on the street ;-)

The sidewalk areas around the comic book store I posted earlier are paved with bricks. The apparently wavy lines are not because they were poorly laid, but because the ground is uneven.

This picture was from the side of a building that used to have a building connected to it. These globs of dried concrete form the shape of a former building on the side of a larger brick structure. It seems as if the larger brick structure was build after the former building. The brick layers were pretty sloppy with laying the bricks against the side of the older building.

The brick-paved floor of a tunnel through an old factory building in Milton - the bricks are red, but the reflected light of the sky was so blue it overpowered their natural colour. It was a bright sunny day, but cold.

Fletchers 'Storm King' ventilator at the Bee Hive Mills, Great Lever, Bolton. Many brickworks made a wide range of clay products beyond common bricks and this is just one example. Sadly this is now gone as one of the mills burned down and all has been demolished and replaced with houses.
