Modified version of the LEGO Brick Bank (#10251).
There's now an ATM and the additional floor provides room for an insurance agent, who might not be the most respectable one.
Ok, so I have become a brick-spotter.
Today I went up to Blaen Pig, above Blaenavon, to the ruins of old quarries and ironworks, in search of old bricks. In a short walk of no more than half a mile I found bricks from 15 different manufactrers, which seems quite remarkable to me, and shows what an industrial centre this area was.
So, from top left, we have:
1. ABC - abderdare Brick Company
2. Abersychan - Made by the Abersychan Brick Company, Pontypool
3. Allen? Difficult to read. A small and narrow brick, it doesn't match anything in my sources, although there is a J.B. Allen manufacturer recorded from Neath and Hirwaun.
5. Beaufort - The Beaufort Brick Company, near Ebbw Vale, made very hard engineering bricks.
6. Burn-Axe - An English brick, manufactured in Northumberland.
7. Castlecary - A Scottish Firebrick, manufactured at Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire
8. Ebbw Vale - I found 5 different styles of Ebbw Vale bricks here, but most were curved, for the construction of arches or tunnels.
9. Graigddu - A pontypool brick manufacturer with several offices in the county.
10. HARV - I know nothing about this at all, and cannot find it in any of my sources.
11. Pontypool Brick Company - Manufactured at The Race, Pontypool.
12. Risca - A new one to me. Possibly a firebrick made at one of the regional Graigddu works.
13. Star Brickworks, Newport - Star were one of the largest brickmakers in the county, and had several local works.
14. Thistle - Another Scottish firebrick, this time manufactured by Stein, in Stirlingshire.
15. Unknown - just marked with dots, this may be related to one of the companies above, or may not. I also found a brick with text that doesn't match any of the above, but which I can't read.
Any additional information on these bricks will be much appreciated.
Another frame from my visit to a small family run brickworks just north of Kolkata. There was not much activity when I arrived, but then the mainly women workers began to appear on site, and resumed unloading the kiln.

this day was beyond beautiful. it was hideously cold but the cold created a mist, which shrouded the silver skyscrapers of shoreditch and made leaving liverpool street station an adventure into the unknown. the sun came out, shining through the mist, making one particular building into a soaring disco ball. it was literally radiating light, the building became a sun. it was incredible, i will never forget that sight.

This building was built in 1947, affected by the war, part of the building is not complete. During the war soldiers have lived here, the second floor of the brick arch is very beautiful, now uninhabited.
Edit: now on youtube: www.youtube.com/user/BeyondTheBrickTV !
I've always liked the new Beyond the Brick logo, though it always annoyed me how a LEGO podcast didn't have a brick built logo.
So I decided to build them one.
