Bestand saniert, leerstehende Dächer ausgebaut, neue Gebäude ergänzt: Beim Nachverdichten eines Postareals zum gemischt genutzten Quartier setzt das Büro GRAFT auf Ziegel als gestalterische Klammer – aber natürlich mit parametrischer Verfremdung.»Um sich in das Ensemble einzufügen, erhielten die Neubauten Ziegelfassaden« geben die Architekten an und liefern damit eine Erklärung für den Namen »Bricks Berlin Schöneberg«. Den Zugang zum Areal von der Hauptstraße in den Hof haben sie aufwendig inszeniert. Die Ziegel folgen einer parametrisch entworfenen geschwungenen Geometrie und bilden einen höhlenartigen Eingang aus. Quelle: db-bauzeitung

Someday just a pile of bricks. One of many empty farmhouses in the tri-state region of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.

Ahhh... the stories those walls could tell, the ones left standing that is! This must have been a truly fine brick home at one time and it's sad to see it "melting" away. I took this on one of our excursions back in December but I have no idea which area of Virginia we were in... or maybe it was West Virginia. Ha! I have no clue! Anyway, one out of the archives. :)

The smaller bricks are carrstone, an iron rich sandstone, used as a building material in west Norfolk.

The newest addition to the High Line art on display. Brick House by Simone Leigh can be found on the 31st Street Extension over 10th Avenue. She is made of bronze and stands 16 feet. She's quite impressive.
