At the East gallery you will see the fabulous murals painted on the remains of the iconic wall but this shot out side the Topography of Terror museum is more of how is was, an 100m section stands tall & intimidating.
Hazy sunlight makes a brief appearance through the thinning high cloud, illuminating the Autumnal colours of the heathland.
I know... same tree... different moment, different view and different light. I liked this one a lot so I thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy!

For once the weather forecasters got it right. The morning was very much overcast but clear blue skies had been predicted for the afternoon. My earlier shots, in and amongst the piers and landing stages were heavily overcast but once at the water's side, the sun was beginning to burn through and disperse the blanket cloud. 25 minutes and 14 frames later the sky was featureless and a piercing blue... time to pack away the filters and stoppers.
A little bit of sun breaks through the clouds behind this Northern Mockingbird on a very rainy day.
Hopefully, even in our darkest hours, we can see a spot of sun in the distance.

I found out an interesting fact about Kansas CIty weather. We on average get about 135 days of sunshine. These are days of pure sunshine with little to no clouds. Sure we get plenty of partly cloudy days. We also get the four seasons. But 135 days out of 365? That makes me stop in my tracks and ponder about the great midwest.
Here the sun does its best job of trying to breakthrough on one of the those party cloudy (mostly cloudy) days onto a frozen lake. The waves and ripples of the ice make for an interesting foreground.

Waterhead delivers a combination of mist and early morning colours making an almost mystical scene. I just love this place
Early evening December 9, a day when we had endured 42C/107F.
As the sun began its descent, some welcome storm clouds gathered.
And although the temperatures remained high well in to the night, the shade afforded by these clouds was most welcome.
But still the sun broke through, reminding us of its all powerful presence.

The "tele-end" of the fisheye zoom (@ 15mm). The view is to the east, the frozen head pond called Lake St. Lawrence. Water levels fluctuate according to water flow through the dam. In this case, the ice formed at a higher level then dropped on to the stump. Thus the title "Breakthrough".
