On Pain
Kahlil Gibran
1883 –1931
And a woman spoke, saying, Tell us of Pain.
And he said:
Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter poison by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.
From The Prophet (Knopf, 1923). This poem is in the public domain.

Ein unglaubliches Lichtschauspiel ereignete sich an der Teufelsmauer in Weddersleben (Harz). Gott sei Dank hatte ich während des Spaziergangs meine Kamera mit dabei!!!

At the end of a stormy day, the light of the evening sun breaks through clouds and rainbow.
A good omen for the crew of the red ship
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me, but I was able to capture the play of light with my smartphone
I got inspired by the sun breaking through the clouds this morning. A morning multimedia abstract.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!

There is something very majestic about the sun rays framing a cloud overhead.....and I was pleased to have a decent camera in my hands when nature painted this scene.
If you have the time, I hope you'll view this at the larger size - just click on the link below:
The sun is just about to top the cloud bank. This past Sunday was a degree or so colder than the previous Sunday. Lots of mist on the water. All of the pancake/sheet ice from calmer days appears to have been bashed and piled up in mounds by heavier waves during the week.
Have a wonderful weekend!

One of my favourite spots in the heart of Yorkshire. Can be quite chilly up here once nightfalls. But to see the changing landscape differ within the space of half an hour is well worth the wait especially when you see a breakthrough on the horizon.
This is a word I don't think we even fully understand most of the time. It is not just a slight momentary improvement in a tough situation, but rather a radical and life changing reality. This is the word I would use to describe Christ's work in me. It was not just a small and momentary change, but a lifelong impact. I will never be the same as I was before! The power and sheer force of the ONE whom I have encountered can never be forgotten. It isn't a gentle rustling of the leaves by the wind, but a never ending wind as strong as a hurricane and the highest wave of a tsunami that cannot ever be tamed or stopped! His power and His presence is a BREAKTHROUGH so powerful, no human word can even describe it. I invite you by His command to obey His words to you, "Follow Me!"

Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!
At the East gallery you will see the fabulous murals painted on the remains of the iconic wall but this shot out side the Topography of Terror museum is more of how is was, an 100m section stands tall & intimidating.
Hazy sunlight makes a brief appearance through the thinning high cloud, illuminating the Autumnal colours of the heathland.
I know... same tree... different moment, different view and different light. I liked this one a lot so I thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy!

For once the weather forecasters got it right. The morning was very much overcast but clear blue skies had been predicted for the afternoon. My earlier shots, in and amongst the piers and landing stages were heavily overcast but once at the water's side, the sun was beginning to burn through and disperse the blanket cloud. 25 minutes and 14 frames later the sky was featureless and a piercing blue... time to pack away the filters and stoppers.
