Former two-time British, Commonwealth and European Champ Haskins has had to do it the hard way in his rise to becoming World Champion. since acquiring the illustrious IBF belt following a frustrating debacle in Las Vegas last November, when then champion Randy Caballero missed the weight by some margin, handing Haskins the title on the scales, the Bristol native has waited patiently for the opportunity to defend his crown in front of his loyal fans.

Saturday May 14 at the impressive new Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff represents Haskins’ chance to show his fans that he has at last lived up to his undeniable potential and is now a fully fledged world champion.

“I’m delighted to be defending my world title in front of my fans at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff on May 14 against Ivan Morales,” said Haskins. “To be defending my belt at home in the UK live on Channel 5 is absolutely brilliant, I can’t wait for May 14. In Ivan Morales Lee Haskins meets a ferocious and determined opponent who also happens to be the younger brother of the legendary former four-weight world champion Erik Morales.

Boxing gym. Torremolinos.

Boxing Day saw me with a day off work, and boredom, and as a result I decided to take a trip across to several bus depots, Kidderminster included. While at Kidderminster, I saw something I didn't expect, an Enviro 200 in the new Diamond livery. The depot at Kidderminster was purpose built and replaced the old depot at the site of today's Tesco.

Nearest to the camera is KP54 BZA (30892), one of a handful of ex-Hansons vehicles allocated to the depot. KP54BZA was new in January 2005 to Central Parking, as their 32408 for use on British Airways Staff Shuttles at Heathrow. Premiere Travel of Nottingham then acquired, as their 3388. In 2013, when Premiere went into administration, Hansons: Local Bus acquired it as their 1540. The Rotala PLC acquired the buses and operations of Hansons and it became a part of the Diamond fleet at their Kidderminster depot. I personally think this Dart is quite a smart example (on the interior), and is slowly starting to show that it needs an exterior refurbishment. 30892 is an Alexander Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer 2.

In the centre of the trio is FJ57 CYW (30813), one of several B7RLEs allocated to Kidderminster. FJ57CYW was "new" in September 2007 to Flights Hallmark, Birmingham. It is ex-Wessex Connect and Wessex Red. 30813 is a Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urban.

Furthest away from the camera is YX09 HZB (20524), one of only a few Diamond vehicles to be painted in the livery, and the first at Kidderminster. YX09HZB was new in July 2009 to Veolia Dunn Line, as their 0902. 902 then went to Veolia's Astons Coaches (Worcester) operation, before being acquired by the Rotala PLC for use at their Wessex Connect operation. In late 2016/early 2017, it (and some sisters) were transferred to Hallmark Connections, and gained a somewhat smart white livery. However, December 20th saw it brought across to Kidderminster in the new Diamond livery. It is an 8.9m Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro 200.

Happy Boxing Day!

This picture is for the theme “Boxing Day,” and after Googling it, I still don’t really get what it is, so I decided to think of it as an extension of Christmas Day. That’s Picnic Al Fresco handing out boxes from the back of this new scratcher thing we got for our cats from Target…you can only see the back, so you’ll have to trust me that it’s the cutest little Christmas-themed train engine. It took a while to put together, partly because there are a lot of pieces, and partly because various cats wanted to try it out while I was still assembling it. It seems quite sturdy, so hopefully it won’t suffer a collapse, like the cute taco truck did that we got last year. The other Blythes in the picture are Tokyo Bright, Prima Dolly Cassis, Nellie Nibbles, and a Littlest Pet Shop Blythe whose name I don’t remember.

An action packed show full of some of Britain’s top fighters was set to unfold on Saturday 16th July. Myself; Kailem Sims; of Boxing Media UK sat ringside at the Cardiff Ice Arena and watched carefully at a barrage of exciting bouts which took place in a packed arena at Cardiff Bay.

Clydach Vale’s very own Liam ‘Dully’ Williams headlined the show against his bitter domestic rival Gary Corcoran in the first defence of his British and Commonwealth Super-Welterweight Titles.

Pound-for-Pound megastar Guillermo Rigondeaux came to the UK to fight on our shores for the first time as he took on Liverpool’s James ‘Jazza’ Dickens for the WBA Super-Bantamweight World Championship.

We also got to see Manchester Lightweight hotshot Terry ‘Turbo’ Flanagan come up against the veteran 135 pounder Mzonke Fana. A wide selection of boxing matches which did not let us down
