Combat after the thunder. I nipped out to see my most local Wizards, as they get even more revved up during storms, and there was plenty of action, but again way off, and this is a large crop. Still I have lots of close battle scenes previous years, so its nice to make a larger setting of it. I did manage a few near running shots too, which is always a bonus, Suffolk.
Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portugese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka.
The fort has a colourful history, the Sri Lankan government and many Dutch people who still own some of the properties inside the fort are looking at making this one of the modern wonders of the world. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by the UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique exposition of "an urban ensemble” which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort or the "Ramparts of Galle", withstood the Boxing Day Tsunami which damaged part of coastal area of Galle city. It has been since restored. The Galle Fort also houses the elite Amangalla resort hotel, located near the Dutch Reformed Church. It was originally built in 1684 to house the Dutch Governor and his staff. It was then converted into a hotel and named then as the New Oriental Hotel in 1865, which catered to the European passengers traveling between Europe and Galle Port in the 19th century.
Boxing Somerset Hares in Mid February.
At last a period of cold, well actually freezing, and dry weather so an opportunity for a local walk to check on the wildlife.
This was the scene at 8am on Boxing day 2010 in Copford Green, Essex, England. Beautiful English Countryside
A Hare crosses the road in front of us followed by another.
Stop the car! Stop the car! Eeeeeeeeeee. Grab the camera.
Jump out. The lens cap is still on. Fumble.
Where have they gone? Over the road to the side of the field. I take five quick shots. This is the one.

Taken one Boxing Day at the top of "Jacobs Ladder", at the top of Mytton Dingle, Stiperstones, Shropshire.
For many years I've taken it upon myself to go out on Boxing Day and enjoy some quiet after the holidays...although this year everything is quiet.

An action packed show full of some of Britain’s top fighters was set to unfold on Saturday 16th July. Myself; Kailem Sims; of Boxing Media UK sat ringside at the Cardiff Ice Arena and watched carefully at a barrage of exciting bouts which took place in a packed arena at Cardiff Bay.
Clydach Vale’s very own Liam ‘Dully’ Williams headlined the show against his bitter domestic rival Gary Corcoran in the first defence of his British and Commonwealth Super-Welterweight Titles.
Pound-for-Pound megastar Guillermo Rigondeaux came to the UK to fight on our shores for the first time as he took on Liverpool’s James ‘Jazza’ Dickens for the WBA Super-Bantamweight World Championship.
We also got to see Manchester Lightweight hotshot Terry ‘Turbo’ Flanagan come up against the veteran 135 pounder Mzonke Fana. A wide selection of boxing matches which did not let us down
Breaking with tradition we had our Xmas Lunch on Boxing Day.
We all much enjoyed the lamb shanks with veggie risotto followed by Ice cream with hot summer berries.
Some of Marlon's expressions might appear to contradict what I just said but, he certainly liked the food
... capturing a boxing workout, a visual ode to rhythm, strength, and dedication :
This series doesn’t focus on the climax of the knockout, but on the quiet power of preparation.
Boxing Workout takes you behind the scenes of the boxing world – away from the crowd, the violence, and the
spectacle – and centers on the rhythm, repetition, and focus that precede the fight.
From tying shoelaces to shadowboxing in an empty gym, from wrapping knuckles to the moment of
mental stillness just before the bell – these photographs capture the poetry of the process.
Boxing is not just a sport, it is a ritual. Every movement, every drop of sweat, every scar holds a story.
This is a search for those stories in light, shadow, texture, and body language. A choreography of discipline, pain, and ... beauty.
