Who needs mad March boxing hares when these two are about. Bruce, the Monarch stag on the left has just shed his right hand rack of antlers so appears lopsided.

In Japan, it is customary to present quality products in a quality packaging.
In the case (pun intended!) of this ink stick (Sumi in Japanese), the wooden box has probably been carefully trimmed flush with a wood plane in the expert hands of a craftsman, who made sure that the lid fits perfectly on the box with a satisfying "swoosh" sound...
Professional boxing in Gloucester, England - title fight between Danny Carter and Andy Keates
I thought I had a black and white edit of this shot but I didn't... (I guess I liked it better at the time in colour as you can see all the blood splatter from Danny's mouth in glorious technicolour) so here it is... a new edit in glorious monochrome
Unbelievably there were /are 9 engineers trains heading East through Teignmouth and Dawlish today. It was in connection with a major engineering project in the Plymouth area. In addition to the bonus services there was a total block situation along the sea wall, this meant that the trains crawled along this stretch of line at 5 mph, the trains could be in line of sight of each other with no signalling knowing they could come to a stop, even in the tunnels. At one point we had two trains on the same track on the sea wall at Dawlish within sight of each other.
66074 eeks its way along the wall with old track forming the 1031 from Hemerdon to Westbury, 70801 had not long disappeared around the corner at Langstone Cliff.
Plenty of walkers along the sea wall burning off the roast spuds. I think everyone of them asked myself and a few other fellow phottwers what was occurring.

Our house remained in the mist all Boxing day but a short walk uphill took us into the sunshine - if only for a brief time.

Boxing Hares by Hamish Mackie.
There isn't a description of this piece on the Hares of Hampshire website so I had a look on Hamish Mackie's site where it is titled Hares Monumental:
Hares Monumental is a sculpture bursting with life and energy. Three times life size, it is designed to be silhouetted side on. It makes a stunning focal point as it really holds its ground from a distance.

There is a new art trail in Southampton and Winchester this summer. For ten weeks Hares of Hampshire will bring thirty-two large hares and forty-two leverets to the streets, parks, galleries and shops of the two cities.
All money raised by donations and by the auction of the hares at the end of the summer will go to the Murray Parish Trust.
Boxing Hares stands 11.5 feet high and is on display outside John Hansard Gallery for the duration of the art trail.
My first visit to the Boxing Gloves on the Northern Edge of Kinder, Its an area that I've just dismissed over the years, always going some place else.
The evening light was forecasted, but as time ticked on it didn't seem like it was going to produce any light, then all of a sudden it broke through the clouds and gave some strong sidelight for 30 minutes.
I decided upon this composition because the rocks and the middle distance are lit up with that lovely glow.
I might share some others, but for now, I'm just enjoying being active again.

Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated after Christmas Day, occurring on the second day of Christmastide (26 December). Though it originated as a holiday to give gifts to people in need, today Boxing Day forms part of Christmas celebrations, with many people choosing to take advantage of Boxing Day sales. It originated in the United Kingdom and is celebrated in several Commonwealth nations. The attached bank holiday or public holiday may take place on 28 December if necessary to ensure it falls on a weekday. Boxing Day is also concurrent with the Christian festival 'Saint Stephen's Day.'
