We found this house built out of an old railroad box car. It has been added on to so as to make a "double wide." As far as I could tell, this house was built this way because of poverty, not as a gimmick for tourists.

As I was going through my photos I noticed the home owner is standing in the doorway watching me.

Today I will follow all the instructions and stick the little gizmo on my chest to monitor my sometimes irregular heart. It has to remain in place for 2 weeks, recording.

Thought to be an ex RCAF example number 22125 as the internal radio call label is marked as 125.

This little jewelry box was turned as a valentines day gift. It is made from curly cherry for the body, teak for the threaded rim, english holly for the lid and an african ebony finial. The box is about 3 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall.

The plans call for a ladder frame strongback built out of typical framing lumber. I built this first and then decided that mine really needed to be mobile to give good access to all sides. I built two 8'x1'x2' box beams, replaced the ladder frame's legs with casters, and screwed them together.

The authentic nameboard fitted to the front of Par box pictured on the night of 18th December 2017. The box originally had two GWR originals, the one of the front was removed a long time ago but the one on the rear of the box is an original. This one was fitted in the last few years when the box was repainted. Photo: Ivan Stewart.

Here are some of the parts for a new cigar box guitar I'm working on.

The San Rafael Swell is a large geologic feature located in south-central Utah, USA about 30 miles (50 km) west of Green River, Utah. The San Rafael Swell, approximately 75 miles (121 km) by 40 miles (64 km), consists of a giant dome-shaped anticline of sandstone, shale, and limestone that was pushed up millions of years ago. Since that time, infrequent but powerful flash floods have eroded the sedimentary rocks into numerous valleys, canyons, gorges, mesas and buttes. The Swell is part of the Colorado Plateau physiographic region.

Interstate 70 divides the Swell into northern and southern sections, and provides the only paved road access to the region. The swell lies entirely within Emery County.

The northern Swell is drained by the San Rafael River, while the southern Swell is drained by a number of small creeks which eventually join the Dirty Devil River in Hanksville, Utah. The Dirty Devil River is a tributary of the Colorado River, while the San Rafael River joins the Green River before it also flows into the Colorado. Muddy Creek cuts into the western edge of the Swell, exits at Muddy Creek Gorge, and then flows into the Fremont River.

The San Rafael Swell was formed when deeply buried Precambrian rocks faulted, or broke, during the Laramide orogeny, about 60 million years ago. These "basement" rocks below the present-day Swell moved upwards relative to the surrounding areas and caused the overlying sedimentary rocks to fold into a dome-like shape called an anticline. The resulting structure is analogous to a series of blankets draped over a box.

Since that time, the relentless force of running water has eroded the geologic layers, resulting in older rocks becoming exposed in the middle of the Swell, and younger rocks exposed around the edges. Many of the most impressive landforms are composed of more resistant rocks, including the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone, Triassic Wingate Sandstone, and Permian Coconino Sandstone. The folding is much steeper on the eastern edge of the Swell than in the west, and this eastern edge is referred to as the San Rafael Reef.

Evidence of Native American cultures, including the Fremont, Paiute, and Ute, is common throughout the San Rafael Swell in the form of pictograph and petroglyph panels. From about 1776 to the mid-1850s the Old Spanish Trail trade route passed through (or just north of) the Swell. In the past 150 years, areas of the Swell have been used for the grazing of sheep and cattle, as well as for uranium mining. Although surrounded by the communities of Price, Green River, Hanksville, Ferron, Castle Dale, and Huntington, the Swell itself does not support permanent residents.

The area is managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, although the Swell as a whole does not currently enjoy special protection, parts of it are protected as wilderness study areas. Cattle grazing is only allowed in parts of The Swell that are not designated as such. The San Rafael Swell is also dotted with squares of land managed by The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration, as is much of the state of Utah.

The San Rafael Swell attracts hikers, backpackers, horseback riders, and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) enthusiasts. Many steep, narrow slot canyons popular with technical canyoneers are found in the San Rafael Reef. The use of ATVs in the Swell is controversial, as environmentalists draw attention to the fact that off-road vehicles damage the fragile desert cryptobiotic soils.

Goblin Valley State Park is on the southeastern edge of the San Rafael Swell.

Vitriol Works signal box located on the up side of the line at Chadderton. Thursday 18th February 1988

Vitriol Works signal box is a British Railway London Midland Region Type 14 design fitted with a 65 lever London Midland Region Standard frame which opened in 1953 in connection with the new Chadderton B electricity generating station, replacing a 1903-built 46 lever Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Standard design signal box located a few yards to the north. All of the glazing at the Manchester end of the signal box, with the exception of one pane by the front corner was bricked up in spring 1988 (the scaffolding can be seen in place). More problems with the windows meant the sliding sashes were replaced by 1997. The signal box was rewindowed and a new set of metal steps were provided in the mid-2000s

The signal box is fitted with a pair of British Railways London Midland Region maroon nameplates

Behind the signal box's location when the railway opened was Messrs Hannibal Becker and Company's works. It is shown on the 1848 Ordnance Survey map as Slacks Valley chemical works, and although the works does not appear to have been rail connected the name is thought to originate from the works

Thanks to Ingy the Wingy for the above info and for supplying the exterior illumination of the signal box by using his car headlights.

Typical storage boxes contain your items, but the inside becomes cluttered – making it difficult to find what you need. Rubbermaid’s Bento collection is designed to organize items, rather than just store them. The Bento Boxes have internal flex dividers, which enable you to divide the space by creating unique sections when needed. Boxes can stack vertically, or fit inside each other. Bento Trays can act as trays or covers, providing an extra layer of organization for the Bento Boxes, or hiding what’s inside. The Bento Collection is made from sturdy materials, and the heavy-duty decorative fabric enables it to remain out in your social spaces while complementing your home’s décor.

For Our Daily Challenge - Box

From a book (Impressionist Garden Gift Boxes) of punch-out-easy-to-assemble small gift boxes. There were 18 and these are the last four. I have never seen a book of them since. The book was crazy expensive but I found it on a reduced-to-clear table at a bookstore. One of those good finds. The promo says - Perfect for candies, jewellery, love notes, small gifts, special treasures.

Inside a magic shop, cut in half! This was the first photo I tried tweaking the environment before taking the snapshot. There's another where Hilly actually looks dead - her eyes are closed and her skin pale, but you can't really tell what's going on with the box, so I chose this one.

This is the only damage that made it through both the outer and inner boxes. Nothing damaged inside though.
