sandhill crane during a running lift off

Came upon this Javelina (Wild Pig) which was a surprise to both of us. He paused just long enough for me to take a few shots.

One more for today and Wing Wednesday.

Back in January I was driving back to Albuquerque after dropping off our son in Tucson. He had completed his masters program at U of A in December and needed to pack up all his stuff. He was still doing some work for the Econ dept too.

I got to the southernmost exit for Bosque del Apache along I-25 about 15:30 and thought, what the heck, might as well see what's going on. About a half hour later I was on the east side of the area with the light getting low and the shadows longer.

Happy Wing Wednesday!

Here is another series from my trip to Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife refuge and Bernardo wildlife management area in New Mexico winter of 2025.

Yet another series of Sandhill cranes from the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife refuge in New Mexico. December 2022. Every day was truly unique and different. The number of cranes, the light, the ice, the temperature.....all varied daily.

These were all captured in New Mexico at Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife refuge and Bernardo wildlife management area in December of 2023. The never ending fun interactions between these incredibly social birds is what keeps many of us going back....and back.....and...
