Christ the King, Pantocrator

It is in the Glorified and Resurrected Christ who overcame the world of matter and lies and showed us the ultimate demonstration of eternal Life and the Infinite possibility of Spirit, that we obtain salvation through understanding His Truth and demonstrating His teachings in our personal lives. It is not the suffering of His body on the cross, but the glory of His resurrection defeating the illusion of death that leads man to be born again in Spirit and likewise defeat death and materialism.

Driving to San Diego this afternoon, came across Pastor Robus and his hand-painted Septic Tank Ministry bus at a vista point along I-5 near San Clemente. Fascinating.

Neglected to load Lightroom onto this computer, so pretty much SOOC other than resizing.

Man, what a mistake, I was unaware that my camera was on the highest ISO setting and the photos have turned really noisy. I have tried using GreyCStoration to de-noise some of the images, but this is the best I could get.

Certainly, this is photographers hell ...

Many of the Art Festival attendees found the street preachers condemning shouts to be quite entertaining. This gentleman walked in front of the street sermon and started doing the white man dance. You know the dance where you swing your hips from side to side, rotate your hands at chest level and let you mouth go agape. One of the preachers quickly announced this man would be meeting with the red hot leader and put a sign in front of him declaring “God Hates Sin”.

TRANSCRIPT:

SMILES: It's not surprising to have some guy living in a bus in the woods, but to have a family live in a bus in the woods, and being at peace, that's super natural. I mean we are so at peace here.

SPACE: For a long time it was kind of tough for me because especially in the winter time where I was all feeling a little bit overwhelmed and claustrophobic trying to keep the house clean that's thirty some feet long; having to work through those things stretches our souls, and makes us better people in the long run I think.

(Birds chirping)

It didn't start out this way, you know, it started out with us having to learn contentment as being renters, as being homeless.

(Birds chirping)

SMILES: I hit the road looking for love. So, eight and a half months after that I get picked up hitchhiking by what ends up being my incredible wife, and she was on the road looking for freedom. By getting rear ended by a drunk driver a week later, and meeting the right people we came to know Christ ten days after we met. I knew I had found the love that I have been seeking after, and she found the freedom she was looking for.

(Stream running water)

SPACE: These are my life choices and this is what we have chosen to do, and I do feel that they have been a huge asset to our family.

(Rain)

SMILES: People that are striving to live the American dream even though they are so discontent they look down upon us and our life, the way we're living, raising our family, these circumstances. What we have you cannot buy and people are trying to buy their happiness, weather it is through money or through whatever; but as we learn and gain, we want to teach and give.

SPACE: What were pouring into this land is not just for our benefit but, for the benefit of generations to come.

(Rain)

SIMON: That sucks. Oh, that sucks

(Rain)

SMILES: We prayed yeah, that we would gain some land outside of Athens, we prayed for this land for 12 or 13 years before God provided it. We want this place to be a refuge for people who need it.

(Birds chirping)

The world would say you're so poor and then they would look at us and say yet you're the richest people I've ever seen. The world would say you have nothing and then at the very same time they would have in their mind, you have everything I have ever wanted.

These maple leaves were made into a rose and now have been changed. They were dead and now they live on transformed as art. The new birth is like this, one must be born again in a spiritual birth. Jesus explains it to Nicodemus in the passage below.

John 3:1-21

1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, F7 he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. F8 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. F9 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Daredevil: Born Again (1987). Graphic novel by Frank Miller. Art by David Mazzucchelli

"Born Again" is a 1986 comic book story arc that appeared in the Marvel Comics series Daredevil. Written by Frank Miller, and drawn by David Mazzucchelli, the storyline first appeared in Daredevil #227-#233 (1986)

An original comic novel featuring the work of a great artists when he was just starting out. David Mazzuchelli is so celebrated for his seminal work in this volume that a recent "artist's edition has been published to canonize him even further.

.

The story details Daredevil's descent into insanity and destitution at the hands of the Kingpin, as well as his subsequent struggle to build a new life for himself.

Very simply, the story follows Matt Murdoch/Daredevil as his life is dismantled by his nemesis, The Kingpin. He loses faith in himself and the world, then regains it. Miller conceived the story and then he and Mazzucchelli collaborated very closely, as described by the artist in his unexpectedly candid and moving introduction:

This is why we chose not to separate the credits into writer and artist; because although technically I did no scripting and Frank did no drawing, I was contributing ideas for plot, characterization, and storytelling (such as the succession of title pages charting Matt’s descent), while Frank was describing the contents of each panel in his scripts.

In 2012, IDW Publishing published David Mazzucchelli's Daredevil: Born Again: Artist's Edition, a 200-page hardcover collection of the storyline printed at the dimensions of the original art, 12 x 17 inches. The art for the book was scanned by Mazzucchelli himself, and in color, in keeping with other books in IDW's Artist's Edition series, so as to mimic as the experience of viewing the actual original art, complete with things such as paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes and art corrections. Mazzucchelli appeared at a signing event for the book at Midtown Comics on June 28, 2012. The signing was preceded by a discussion with fellow creator Chip Kidd and a Q&A session with fans in attendance.

"I am One with my Father"

Separateness disappears when the created dissolves into the Creator as opposed to the more common translation: "I and my Father are One."

My brother decided to be baptized a few weekends ago.

His church doesn't have their own building so the sacrament took place in the pastor's inlaws' pool. It was nice and personal with each person giving their testimony beforehand.

this is a piece I made before my son was born. I don't remember exactly, I may have been pregnant with him, I'm not sure.

Childbirth was definitely on my mind, the pressure to reproduce, the spiritual mandate to make a body for a spirit brother or sister to inhabit. And I was fascinated with the many scriptural analogies between spiritual growth and actual pregnancy. Blood and Water and Born Again...

(Matriarchal imagery in a Patriarchal religion)

For this piece I took an old screen door that I had found dumped out in the desert. I de-constructed it, taking it apart and putting it back together as a bunch of boxes of various sizes. I than began to fill the boxes, stuffing them with egg shells, broken cups (that box is not shown here), pages riped from books and scrolled up tight, jars filled with salt and stones, one box is empty, painted stark white inside and then closed off (protected?) by a rusty spikey metal "door" (a large joiner that I found in the ashes of a bonfire, the wood it was joining burned away). I also put in some of the little female fertility icons I had been making out of plaster- little venus-of-willendorf-ish type figures, one with wings (angel? resurrected being?) one surrounded in flowers, almost like a burial.

This is a symbolic image. The pandemic, fires and the selfish shortsightedness of humans has me feeling pretty hopeless. But fires make way for new growth. I don't have much hope for the world right now. But something new will come. Hopefully we'll be around to see it. Maybe not. It doesn't really matter much, anyway.

I asked Philip how many 'constituents' had contacted him concerning the 'promotion of homosexuality' in local schools and asking for the re-introduction of section 2A. One or two he told me.

I asked him why he was turning his campaign into a personal crusade rather than standing up and fighting for the real concerns of people in North Ayrshire. He told me he had simply expressed his personal beliefs and as a result had been thrown out of the Conservative Party by David Cameron, and now he had no choice but to make his stand.

He also told me that David Cameron would make a rubbish Prime Minister anyway.

I asked his sponsor and retired Largs Academy Maths Teacher, Tom Marshall(my Maths Teacher incidentally), if he really felt that children were being indoctrinated in homosexuality (to use old Tory term) and was he concerned about this issue when he was teaching and is he concerned about it today. Tom told me no, it's not generally an issue in Scottish Schools but it has been in some Schools in England. So it's not a local issue then I replied. Tom replied that he would defend Philips right to his personal beliefs.

I expressed my disappointment to both Tom and Philip that they and the local Conservative Party were running a homophobic campaign in Largs and North Ayrshire. I urged them to re-think their current campaign.

My friend and auto mechanic, who built this motorcycle from parts he purchased, and then customized himself. It's an awesome bike, with stereo and CD player, Harley-Davidson anniversary emblems, and cushioned seats for long trips... It is really a work of art.

The tag on the back, "Born Again" (see second image in bottom row) is in memory of a close friend of his (and fellow club member) who died several weeks ago in a motorcycle crash.

Contrary to the photo title, he's a really nice guy (and an excellent auto mechanic).

While photographing the street preachers this pie-eyed gentleman came strolling by screaming something about “get the fuck off my beach” and similar phrases. At one point he yelled at me to “get your bastards out of here”. I explained to him I was my own bastard and had nothing to do with the street preachers being on his beach. As his anger escalated he started pointing and screaming at me, so I just had to go in for the shot.

GOD created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of GOD was moved upon the face of the waters.

And GOD said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And GOD saw the light, that it was good: and GOD divided the light from the darkness.

And GOD called the light Day, and the darkness HE called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

The numerous in-text illustrations are in full color, sepia, and monochrome. The text volumes are printed on grand velin paper with 36 tissue-guarded full-page hors-text plates in duplicate (color and green or sepia-tone lithographs). Paper size 15 3/4 x 12 3/4 inches; image size varies (ca 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches).

In America the publisher was Doubleday & McClure Co. who produced 100 “Grand Luxe” copies and 600 “Autograph Edition” copies containing extra features and marketed in conjunction with exhibitions of Tissot’s Bible illustrations in America. “The Life of Or Saviour Jesus Christ. Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Compositions From the Four Gospels with Notes and Explanatory Drawings by J James Tissot.” Notes Translated by Mrs. Arthur Bell. New York: The McClure-Tissot Company, 1899.

The work was printed in France by Lemercier, who employed some 100 workmen to prepare 4000 plates for various colours and processes - lithograph, photogravure, typographer, wood engraving etc. Tissot himself supervised the preparation of the plates and later the printing of the volumes; they may therefore be said to embody the artist's intention in the medium of chromolithography as well as paint.

My Friend: I am asking you the most important question of life. Your joy or your sorrow for all eternity

depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if

you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die?

God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be

born again.”

In the Bible God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple! You

can be saved today. How?

First, my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

(Romans 3:23).

Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. “For the wages [payment] of sin is death” (Romans

6:23). This includes eternal separation from God in Hell.

“ . . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place.

“ . . . He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness

of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus had to shed His blood and die. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Lev. 17:11). “ . . . without

shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]” (Hebrews 9:22).

“ . . . God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:8).

Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our

place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot lie.

My friend, “God . . . commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This repentance is a change of

mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “ . . . ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they

said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . . .’ ”

Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God

resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is

received as Savior.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe

on His name” (John 1:12).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved.

Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.

In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Just pray: “Oh God, I know I am a sinner.

I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and

resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift

of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no

lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!

God’s simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your

place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you

receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.

You say, “Surely, it cannot be that simple.” Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God’s plan. My friend, believe

on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today.

If His plan is not perfectly clear, read this tract over and over, without laying it down, until you understand

it. Your soul is worth more than all the world.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very

moment.

God’s power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life. “There hath no

temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted

above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1

Corinthians 10:13).

Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God’s promises. They never change. After you are saved,

there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:

Pray -- you talk to God.

Read your Bible -- God talks to you.

Witness -- you talk for God.

You should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and

then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of

our Lord . . . .” (2 Timothy 1:8)

“Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which

is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).
