Just under a month until another run at the Cane Creek Branch! A pair of UP GP40-2s are seen exiting out the west portal of Bootlegger Tunnel. Jun 29, 2014
A quick little tablescrap utilising some bootleg transparent-smoke sockets that turned up amongst one of my second-hand hauls.
Shortly after working the Intrepid Potash mine, Union Pacific's Potash local makes its return down the Cane Creek Branch. It is seen making the climb into Bootlegger Canyon after following the Colorado River for the last few miles.
Located on BNSF's Seligman sub west of Flagstaff is this location entitled 'Bootlegger's Curve'. The sweeping curve, mountains in the background, and ascending grade make for a truly spectacular scene to photograph the seemingly never ending action on the transcon. An interesting place to get to, bootleggers requires some effort to get to. The mud is unforgiving, and literally wanted to suck the boots off my feet as we were hiking in. Always an adventure, which is what keeps me going back for more.
WEEK 37 – Carrollton, GA, Target (VI)
It was kinda dumb of me to schedule my only two photos of this side of the roadside Target sign as bookends, literally the very first and very last pics of this album. The first pic, of course, I talked completely over, given that I was introducing the destination and all. This last one, typically, I’d have run out of things to say and would be wrapping up the album, but not here: there’s one last quirk to point out before we leave! Take a close look at that Target wordmark… does something seem off about it to you? If you noticed that it’s, somehow, in a different font, then you’ve got it! Honestly, I have no clue how this would have come about… my best guess is that sometime along the way the original signage was damaged on this side, and it was subsequently replaced with this version, which had to be mocked up to match the (existing) opposite side. If that’s the case, then whoever designed it actually did a pretty good job, as the bullseye looks exact and the wordmark is fairly close – caps lock, sans serif, bold, and plain. Rather strange they couldn’t figure out that Target’s wordmark is done up in one of the simplest fonts for such a famous logo – Helvetica – and that they couldn’t just pull some image file of the wordmark in the first place; but still, nice effort, haha!
(c) 2021 Retail Retell
These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
Some wackyass bootlegs I found on Aliexpress. Those heads are so goofy looking. They're like minifig heads scaled up to CCBS size.
What do you mean you lost one?
There were four of them packaged when we left port, and then three when we got here.
Well there's only five people who have the container code to open the doors, and you're one of them.
I'm telling you man, I don't know anything.
For all I know somebody on board is sitting on a few million dollars worth of machinery.
Sir, if somebody stole one, it's long gone by now.
Why do you say that?
You know the charters. If there's one place to dump a million dollar war machine, it's in East Africa. I wouldn't doubt if some stoned war lord is showing off his new pet right about now.
Somebody will have to pay for the damages.
Like I said sir, I don't know anything. Don't worry though, you'll catch the poor bastard. You'll find him on South Beach in his new Ferrari next week. He may have been smart enough to steal it, but he's not a rocket scientist, just a common thug.
You better hope so, for your sake.
Am I doing this 'koma thing right?
Editing sucks but I'll change that later.

The yellow truck from my Thumpers and Bootleggers creation. This model has 127 bricks and took just over 8 hours to render.

Here are both of my Bootleg Archetype He figma guys painted up. Definitely the smallest customs I’ve painted so far. After buying the flesh tone version and painting him up I decided he should get a boyfriend but I wasn’t willing to pay any more than like… $15 so I chose the grey version that was offered.
Unfortunately the grey one has two right feet but the price was small enough that I didn’t really care.
Since I wanted this guy to look as different as possible I sculpted some hair and tried painting an expression that was completely different to my first one while working with the pouty face sculpt.
I’m pretty happy for two little buff figures that pose like champs.
Northbound Potash Local snakes its way towards the west end of Bootlegger Canyon on the return trip from Potash. Mar 29, 2015
Managed to capture this aerial shot of the Bootleg Fire in Southern Oregon, about 8 hours after the fire started. Two days later this fire has now burned nearly 17,000 acres and is only 1% contained.
Coming directly on the heels of a historic drought in California and the worst heatwave in recorded history across the Pacific Northwest, this is one of several massive wildfires raging up and down the west coast and is likely just a small preview of what we can expect for the remainder of the summer (and every summer for the rest of our lives in this neoliberal capitalist hellscape).
I bought this bootleg figure alons some more from internet for few bucks. I am not that fond of bootlegs but I wanted to see them personally and I have to say I am quite impressed with quality of these. Only noticable differences from lego are shatp shoulders, hips, hands and quality of both plastic and print.
