This is my favourite shot from that morning. the shallow DOF from my 50mm makes it look almost like an oil painting.
A different look at the city of honolulu. Shot with a Rebel T1i, EF 300mm 2.8, and a 70-200 2.8. Homage to my mentor and friend Cory Lum. the bokeh meister!

Blurry... Bokeh...Buzz... unclear yet sometimes more soothing than the harsh clarity.
A static buzz, a soothing numbness...
Early morning sun near the flower market, the subtle red is the bunch of red roses.
Love the angled rays of the sun, creates miracles when it falls of objects. (Like even my lens (-: )
Happy Bokeh Wednesday!
Bokeh Test with Sony Alpha-350 & Albinar f=28mm + Extension Rings.
Some debris in the objective (left edge). Dust? Fungus?
7DOS - "7 Days of Shooting" "Week #9 - Work " "Go For Bokeh Tuesday"
working at sea is a hard life - Prawn fishermen often risk their lives and their livelihood out on the sea, separated from families for days or even weeks at a time, for very little reward.
One friend told me:
Some years ago, after leaving Uni, he decided to go to work on the Prawn Trawlers up north of Australia, in the Gulf, between Darwin in the Northern Territory and Weipa in Queensland. They were out at sea for Tiger season which was 7 months long and Banana season which went for a further 2 months. It was honestly the hardest job that he has ever done in his entire life. Banana season was flat out. They worked 24 hrs a day and basically the harder and faster they worked, the more chance they would have of getting 20minutes sleep between the nets being brought up. Having said that, he did say that it was fun, very lively and the pay was great.
Would not be enough pay in it for this lazy sea-goer.
Theme: Still Life
Elements: color and space
Principles: emphasis and unity
Aperture: f/4.5 was used in order to keep the one light in focus while all of the other lights are not. This depth of field technique creates a bokeh effect in the image.
ISO: I used an ISO of 100 while taking this photograph which made the background darker, and kept the lights from making the exposure too bright.
one more from May...
I just installed and tried a calibration program on my laptop - don't like how things look on that screen (or rather, how it looks different on any other screen after I've edited from what I see on the laptop) and I think it actually got worse.
Hope this looks ok on your screen :)
still looking on my tulips & other spring bulbs. garden planning season...
I cant believe that i can finally do a little bokeh at the right corner. Although it seems not so obvious, but im more than happy as im only have 18-200mm VR lens.
This shot taken where we are still waiting for the menu for ordering desserts, besides we are impressed by the cozy decoration, also the marvelous interior-design.
Love this atmosphere, and the shots too...
