The blue-faced honeyeater (Entomyzon cyanotis), also colloquially known as the bananabird, is a passerine bird of the honeyeater family, Meliphagidae. These birds frequent our garden on a regular basis.
This image is taken in our backyard, since I am confined to our home at this time.

With the COVID-19 (coronavirus) now rampant here and in most countries I am spending all my time at home and fortunately have plenty of birds coming to visit due to our bird friendly and flower garden.

Whenever I'm stuck for a photo, I shoot our neighbour's sheep.
I particularly like these long-eared Bluefaced Leicestershires.

first toast done, with some modifications. i added ribbing on the edges and a thumb hole. the toast is snug, but i like it.
It was only recently that we saw the first one of the Blue-faced Honeyeaters in greater Melbourne. This one is actually slightly further north but still in the outer suburbs.

There was a huge old gum tree directly in front of us that was alive with Noisy Miners attacking anything and everything and if they couldn't find something they attacked each other. The noise was deafening.
However, this dude was quietly ignoring the mayhem all around and feasting on insects under the bark.

Any Game of Thrones fans out there? We are now one week away from the start of the new season and I can't wait.
Late last month HBO released a series of posters depicting each of the main characters. I found them to be incredibly awesome and they immediately inspired me to bring back my son as Kyle Snow.
I say "bring back Kyle Snow" because in November of 2015 HBO had released a striking poster hinting that Jon Snow might still be alive. It juiced me out of a creative funk and I enlisted my son Kyle in recreating the look and feel of it. If you're curious to check it out it can be found right here.
I'm so happy my son was just as excited as I was to create this tribute image and after a relatively simple photoshoot, followed by a whole lot of sliding and snow making, winter arrived here on my photostream in midsummer.

They were very active in the park, on our morning walk.
The Blue-faced Honeyeater is a large black, white and golden olive-green honeyeater with striking blue skin around the yellow to white eye. The crown, face and neck are black, with a narrow white band across the back of the neck. The upperparts and wings are a golden olive green, and the underparts are white, with a grey-black throat and upper breast. The blue facial skin is two-toned, with the lower half a brilliant cobalt blue. Juvenile birds are similar to the adults but the facial skin is yellow-green and the bib is a lighter grey. This honeyeater is noisy and gregarious, and is usually seen in pairs or small flocks. It is known as the Banana-bird in tropical areas, for its habit of feeding on banana fruit and flowers.

Large and conspicuous honeyeater with striking patch of bare facial skin: blue in adults, green in juveniles. White underparts and bright olive upperparts. Face black with white streaks on neck and chin. Usually found in noisy groups—often bickering with other bird species. Usually found in open woodlands and gardens. Can be very common in suburban areas.
