After a bit of a drive, I passed the picturesque Loch Kinardochy, or at least it would be picturesque if I could find a good place in which to photograph it from. The first few photos I took of this scene were underwhelming to say the least, although this panorama would have worked well if the sun was out.
After a few failed attempts to take a decent photo of the frozen loch, I decided to see what the limekiln was all about. Thankfully, when I got to the top, I realised I could utilise the kiln to provide some foreground interest, which was missing from the rest of the photos. The sun had also come out by this point which is always a plus.

Journalling reads: When I bought chocolate covered shortbread as a treat, I wasn’t really surprised when you decided to help yourself to one. I was on the phone to Nan at the time, and I remember laughing that you had grabbed the packet and ripped it open to grab a biscuit. Since it was shortbread I knew it would dissolve so it was safe for you to eat. What I didn’t expect though was exactly how much mess you could possibly make with a single biscuit. You were covered from head to toe, it was on your clothes, in your hair and in the few seconds it took me to grab a packet of baby wipes you had smeared chocolate all over my bed! 22nd September 2012.

This is one of the best working and finest bit braces I have seen. You could argue that I might not have seen too many of the real quality braces, but in a spell of two years I've owned 30 something bit braces, and this one ranks in my top three.
Being a Millers Falls bit brace of the not too uncommon model no 32 and the very common size of 10 inches I know that you Americans wouldn't get too excited about one of these. But This is my third MF bit brace and I must say they are outstanding quality bit braces. This one is patented 1911 and has the same ball bearings on the top handle as my MF 182.
According to oldtoolheaven.com mine would be a 1912 model with a steel washer between between chuck and ratchet socket. Despitr some loss of nickel plating and sign of hard wear, the brace is is very good technical order. There's no play in the top handle or the chuck and the lovely rosewood handles are in good condition. As always, the sound of a MF is convincing, the ball bearings spin like crazy and the ratchet moves freely and crisply.

Elizabeth grew up in the countryside of Peru, grazing alpaca and loving to knit.
All she wanted in life was to attend school. But like so many in her community, Elizabeth was prohibited by her parents from further education. “Boys are students,” she was told. “Girls take care of livestock.”
In marriage she found the pattern repeating itself. Her husband went off to study, leaving Elizabeth alone and impoverished, struggling to take care of their young son.
With the help of Heifer, Elizabeth organized other mothers and formed a handicraft association to sell their knitting wares at the local market. The money helps support her family.
Bit by Bit is the story of a woman unwilling to be marginalized.
“There is no strength alone,” she says. “When many of us come together, then there is strength.”
And Elizabeth is staying true to her word, teaching her trade to the young girls of her community.
