Took the kids and the family down to the Harbour estate to see the QE2.but i wanted to go down to the pump house, as the traffic was being directed, i stopped and asked the gentleman could we get down the road to the pump house, he wasn't from NI and he said that i follow cars, as there were some behind me (like that was the understatement of the year) so again i asked if i could go straight down the road and he said that other person would help me. so i said ok, put the windae back up and said "that fellow was helpful... not" and holden pipes up in the backseat (bernie, you'll hear this with the accent!!!) "that man was STUPID!" omg talk about near wetting yerself laughin... the rain may have been coming down hard but it certainly didn't dampen the spirits!

On display now at Two Bit Circus Micro Amusement park in Downtown Los Angeles.
Brent Bushnell and I got to talking about building a minifigure scale arcade. We hashed out the elements required to bring an 80s arcade to life and I began amassing the 4,180 pieces to make the build.
No expense was spared for the sake of authenticity. The main goal of this set is to evoke a feeling of being back in time, standing in front of your favorite video game, with the stakes sky-high, and the weight of 40 quarters in your pocket. That feeling wouldn't be complete without the sense of diversity in the arcade itself and the smell of mediocre pizza wafting past you as you go to the redemption center to cash in your tickets.

I had a little bit of time to chill today....... so I rolled over to [Tate Modern](www.tate.org.uk/) to take in the [Damien Hirst show](www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/exhibition/damien-hi...)......... I wanted to see it partly because I really wanted to see [' For The Love of God '](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_the_Love_of_God) the human skull cast in platinum and inlaid with over 8 thousand perfect diamonds......... It was as I kind of expected : totally incredible ..... Awesome !!! as many of my American friends would say ....... Sure there is all that : Can it be right?............ To create a piece of art work of diamonds and platinum (and human teeth) valued at $75 million ? ........... but put aside any politics and just look at it ........ and just feel its effect on you ..............
It's a pretty mesmerizing thing ......... with the light constantly shimmering off of this perfect representation of death.................. It is contained in a dark black box of an apparently sealed cube room in the middle of the giant Turbine Hall at the Tate....... people are gathered around it the way they gather round [The Black Kaaba Stone](blogs.reuters.com/faithworld/2007/12/18/on-the-haj-circli...) in Mecca ........ but this black sarcophagus guarded by muscle bound men in black suits with earpieces......... contains only blackness when you first enter...... then at its very center a glass cube ........ within the glass the perfect vision of death glinting and glowing in its amazing beauty. Colors from white.... shards of light..... glinting and gleaming constantly sparkling from the white diamonds causing almost a sensation that the head is turning ........ The piece dominates....... Everything else is blackness..........
You are not allowed to photograph it of course ....... A man was being dragged out by the black suited body guard types for the offense of photography at one point while I was there ......... I can't help thinking he should get himself a [Sony NEX5](www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/692507-REG/Sony_NEX5K_B_Al...) a slightly less obtrusive camera very useful for 'No Photography' situations.... well I find it useful myself ..... See above.
My friend who is a big wheel in the art world had warned me she found the whole show slightly without teeth ........ that the shark was yawning and worse she warned me that 'For The Love of God' is not so great in the flesh (or lack of flesh) as it were......... I always find her totally brilliant on all aspects of art ...... so I was sort of expecting to agree ......... and yet I was conflicted..... as I had always thought I liked the diamond skull without ever actually having seen it for real .........
I was seriously braced for disappointment............ instead I found it totally amazing ........ and 'For the love of God' can actually be viewed without charge ....... the rest of the show you have to pay to see ....... so if you are short of cash ....... you should feast your eyes on the $75 million piece of art ....... yeah..... try not to get too done in by the political dichotomy in that situation ....... just look at it as it is...... in my view an amazing mesmerizing creation .........

Some of my pics from the Haworth 1940s weekend. See www.haworth1940s.co.uk/ A brilliant day out – great atmos – especially when the packed street outside started singing ‘we’ll meet again’ along with the lady singing from an outdoor pavilion! Loads of people were dressed up and in-character – i now want to go dressed up next year! Although there was a ‘upsetting’ amount of real-furs adorned around characters necks!
Today I did a little bit of trespassing and explored where once the houses of our neighbours stood.
Most of the houses in my old street are being destroyed, just because some investor didn't keep his promise to renovate them, neglected them long enough for politicians to let him do as he always wanted, destroy it all and replace it with ugly modern buildings.
The money grabbing builder promises to restore the houses.... then takes so much time the buildings fall apart and then a politician quickly sneaks permission by the council to demolish the lot.
I bet that that was what they wanted all along.
Luckily my mother refused to be bought and is staying in her house, or that would now be going as well.
Highly depressing to see my childhood neighbourhood destroyed, even though architects, investors, politicians and city planners have been raping and destroying one of the last original Victorian Station-neighbourhoods since the 1970s, it is still a shame to see some of the last visions of that past go.
Responsible for this crime against history are the Geste company and politician Norder, one being the money grabbing criminal, the other the negligent politician.

I am still taking a major break, trying to keep up on groups and slowly add contact comments. I have much to catch up on.
P1280574 - There is a long sad story to all of this. The council along with various local organisations managed to get some lottery funding to re work the bowling green and build a skate park. Now you have to remember most of the councillors are 60 plus. So a bit one sided from me an ex youth worker, but today x years after a million odd quid was spent on a top notch bowling green and club house it's still in use.
Skate park, close three times, why against the advice of specialist, construction engineers which was NOT to build a wooden structure right next to the sea, they did and subsequently is has become unsafe three times since it's construction.
Along with the youth club cuts and in some cases closure, I came only assume that the youth of Ryde and other areas on the Isle of Wight will return to it's poll position on the national legal for the most under age pregnancy's alongside the higher ratings for drug and alcohol abuse in teenagers and pre teens. Additional cost to area in looking after these problems and caring for the results that it will bring. Glad the government is looking after the young with their Duty of Care.........enough, I'll stop now before I get really going

My Wonder Frog I've named Lily on a recent trip to a flower park/arboretum here in my country Slovenia. The sweet thing attracted quite a bit of attention whenever I took photos of her next to blooming flowers, little lakes and ponds, roots of trees, etc. People would stop in their tracks and whisper: "Oh, look, a cute frog!" She'd then look back at them with interest, blinking ocassionaly. *laugh*
Due to her small size she was easy to photograph and seemed to enjoy walking on grass and playing by the stream. She looked very much at home. I dressed her into a white summer-y outfit so she'd stand out in the pictures more. On her feet are orange All-Star sneakers by Blythe but because of the socks underneath they actually don't fall off. Yay!
Wonder Frog is a 15 cm (almost 6'') tall soft plastic Japanese doll made by Oshare Kaeru of Studio Qoo. The doll can move its head, arms and legs a bit and can turn in the waist. Since she doesn't come with any outfits, most owners sew and handknit their own clothes for Wanda (the name Oshare Kaeru gave the frog). It's up to the owner to decide whether their Wonder Frog is male or female. ^^ I've seen people sew lovely clothes for both genders. So cute! And Studio Qoo does provide a few extra accessories such as adorable black shoes ("otama-kutu") and a red and a black mask/shades, just to name a couple.

i have no idea how this came out. i wasn't looking at the camera because i was driving. trying to get a shot of a police motorcycle's lights at night. zoomed all the way in & finger on the manual focus button so it wasn't focused at all. the blue came out right though.
Here is the lens disassembled. The basic design is from the book Primative Photography by Alan Greene. The two lens elements are about 500mm focal lengh and the total focal length is about 240mm-ish. The aperture is centered between the two lens elements. If you want to make one, check out Alan Green's book. All you really need is a saw and an exacto knife.

Bit of an odd thing to impulse buy, tissues...but I couldn't resist! For some reason the brand is doing a 30th anniversary promo that involves Animal Crossing - you can win a Wii or the Animal Crossing game if you collect enough barcodes. Just had to have the box though! :D
Bleep Labs friend Andy Hendrix made a great enclosure for his Jr using a standard plastic project box and banana plugs.
He found that potentiometers could be used between the patch points to change the sound.

Judy Hart was 15 when she and John Forester, then 17, went on their first date. It was 1979 and they both felt that, after the date, they were never genuinely interested in anybody else. “She was different from all the other girls for her age; she was so much taller,” John said. “The first time I saw her she was probably on a pair of skates, and so she even looked taller. It was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, she is gorgeous.’” Judy said that John stood out to her when they were younger. “The first time I remember knowing John existed was when he was teasing my best friend during a church camp trip,” Judy said. “We went to church together, but did not go to the same school, and since he was older, while I was unaware of him, apparently he had been noticing me. That summer, 1979, he asked me out.” Judy and John felt completely at ease with each other from the get-go and continued dating while he attended Ole Miss and she finished high school. “It just seemed like it clicked; it was the right thing,” Judy said. “He always made me feel very special and always put me first and doted on me a bit.” In 1980, Judy’s family moved to Batesville, and they continued dating long distance. “I laugh at that now, but back then, people just didn’t travel like we do now,” Judy said. “We actually wrote letters to each other, and each of us kept them.” During this time, John and Judy saw each other about twice a month and had limited phone conversations. “We were only allowed 5-10 minutes on the phone each week, and it had to be after 11 p.m. on Fridays because the phone rates were cheaper,” Judy said. Because they were so young, John and Judy’s parents pressured the two to date others. John’s parents in particular did not want the two to tie each other down, especially since he was entering his first year of college. “I was always wanting to come home to see her,” John said. “We gave it a test, and we just didn’t want to be apart.” The couple dated for four and a half years before they were married. John proposed on July 22, 1983, which was also Judy’s parents’ 27th wedding anniversary, and they were married on June 2, 1984. Judy was 23 and John was 26 when they had their first child, Will, and one year later they had their daughter Ashley, who is currently a graduate student at Ole Miss. Judy worked at Marshall Academy in Holly Springs, where her children attended school for 14 years. In 2008, with both of their children in college, she decided it was time to return to school to finish her degree. After living in Holly Springs for 22 years, they moved to Oxford this past fall. They believe Oxford and the university has been a large part of their lives. “We have always gone to football, baseball and basketball games and we have come down here for other events,” John said. “I just love Oxford and I love the university.” Now, John and Judy both work on campus. John works in the registrar’s office, while Judy works as operations supervisor in campus recreation. Judy will also graduate in May 2013 with her BBA in management. They have celebrated Valentine’s Day together for 33 years and recall how they celebrated their first Valentine’s Day in 1980. “John gave me a stuffed red and white bear,” Judy said. “We probably went to The Hut, which was a little food drive-in place in Holly Springs. Now, we just go out to eat somewhere. John has always been sweet to do flowers or candy or gift cards for massages.” John believes that Valentine’s Day is a special day and likes to always have a surprise planned for Judy, so he would not reveal his plans for this year. “It is just a time for the two of us to go out to dinner or a movie,” John said. “But it was just a time for the two of us.” Judy said time for just her and John has been beneficial for their marriage. “We always made that really important, to have date nights, because you can get crazy with kids and work, and other obligations,” she said.

Three-bladed propellors, possibly for Dinky aeroplanes – these may be original, although the silver ones have a flatter profile. A large suitcase, possibly around 1:18 scale. Dropside panel from Siku 2517, the rear off a 1978 lorry – probably 1:50 scale, and other bits including a starting handle which looks as if it might be practical. There is also a 1930s style radiator grille and a windscreen and folded hood from a veteran car model. From a box of spare parts which I acquired in January 2024.
These are a collection of bits i have on my desk that i never quite managed to finish off.......... one day i will!
The badges were picked up today at a local plant sale (!), the keyring was a recent eBay purchase. Particularly pleased to get the Stanza one, it was one I hadn't got before though I do have a few others in this series.

Week 40, Bell has been a bit over having her photo taken every week so I made sure we had some fun this week and recruited some help from a friend to play her favorite game with her, catch the food. Got a bit of a series as I love these photos, she still has a lot of puppy in her. I chose this one because she is looking right at me after catching the food
Saddlebag support, saddle spanner, GB stainless steel professional toeclips and Lucas milometer. To fit the saddlebag support for a Brooks saddle without bag loops two holes are drilled into the cantle plate and the spring cover pressed back to insert the holding prongs. Very neat, it can be removed when not required and left attached to the saddlebag.
