June 7, 2014 – Chipping away the stubborn bits

After the track hoe has pulverized the asphalt on top of the bridge deck, a crewmember uses a chipping gun to remove the bits of asphalt that remain. This will result in a clean, smooth surface for the placement of the temporary barrier.

Over the weekend of June 6 to 9, SR 520 was closed for SR 520 West Connection Bridge Construction. During the closure crews demolished portions of the existing barrier and roadway and placed temporary barrier for the new SR 520 West Connection Bridge. The West Connection Bridge will connect the new floating bridge to the existing west approach. Find out more about the new SR 520 on our website.
