As a bit of a bee fanatic, seeing my first solitary bee of the year is always a bit special. This one is in our Staffordshire garden. A quick "grab" shot, but by the size, appearance, colouration (with black facial hairs) and time of year, I reckon this is a male Andrena bicolor; Gwynne's Mining Bee.
The first one I saw in 2015 was on 21st March, so a week earlier this year.
Bhit Shah is a small town located in Matiari District, Sindh, Pakistan. It is most famous for being the location of the shrine of Sindh's greatest sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
A DAF XF pulling one of those odd trailers that split apart in the middle so you can dump the back end in one place and drag the front to somewhere else. In this particular case the driver had just had both 20' boxes unloaded at the same time on separate bays.
I wanted to get a picture of him joining the two halves up again afterward but wasn't fast enough with the camera. This is him winding the legs up before moving off.
Took the kids and the family down to the Harbour estate to see the QE2.but i wanted to go down to the pump house, as the traffic was being directed, i stopped and asked the gentleman could we get down the road to the pump house, he wasn't from NI and he said that i follow cars, as there were some behind me (like that was the understatement of the year) so again i asked if i could go straight down the road and he said that other person would help me. so i said ok, put the windae back up and said "that fellow was helpful... not" and holden pipes up in the backseat (bernie, you'll hear this with the accent!!!) "that man was STUPID!" omg talk about near wetting yerself laughin... the rain may have been coming down hard but it certainly didn't dampen the spirits!
Bit of an unexpected bonus this - it came along when I wasn't expecting it. Compass Bus YX67 UYF seen in Shere with the 0720 number 25 from Cranleigh to Guildford via Peaslake - this a school time journey which diverts off the main Merrow Road on the way into Guildford to serve St Peter's School.
I nearly got caught out by this - thinking all the new Compass buses have Mobitec LEDs which always show up on camera.... I was wrong!

Bit of an experiment....
Wanted to use my Agfa Isolette II again, but didn't have any 120 film in the house, so I put some (expired) 35mm film through it instead. Didn't realise the film I was using had already been partially shot, maybe three years ago! (in a plastic 4-panel camera).
Processed at home with Tetenal C-41 kit.
This is straight from scanner - I'm not sure why the blue cast, but think it must have been as I was scanning the sprocket holes too, but I don't mind it.

Loads of people were dressed up and in-character – i now want to go dressed up next year! Although there was a ‘upsetting’ amount of real-furs adorned around characters necks!

Cuidado con la cabeza de Bernardí Roig presenta una selección de veintiuna obras en diferentes soportes (escultura, fotografía, vídeo, dibujo e instalación) que suponen una relectura de su trabajo y tiene como hilo conductor la cuestión de la metamorfosis. La muestra sin tener un carácter retrospectivo, incluye obras realizadas a lo largo de las dos últimas décadas.
Bernardí Roig (Palma de Mallorca, 1965), uno de los artistas españoles más relevantes de la actual escena internacional es, en todos los sentidos, un pintor que no reduce la pintura a la condición de la ceniza para desplegar obsesivamente una actividad dibujística, que ha ido expandiendo hasta las instalaciones, el vídeo, la apropiación fílmica o incluso la deriva ensayística (como puede apreciarse en su magnífica recopilación de «monólogos» en el libro Binissalem). Si en La Lonja de Palma de Mallorca en 2012 fotografió a miles de personas para convertir sus rostros en baldosas de gestos crispados, en su exposición en la galería Max Estrella en 2011 presentó un vídeo en el que se apropiaba de una secuencia de El año pasado en Marienbad de Alan Resnais para ejecutar el tremendo acto de coserse la boca. Ese silencio brutal anticipa su meditación fotográfica sobre el paso del tiempo en Naufragio del rostro, 2013-2014 (una serie de autorretratos ejecutados durante un año que revelan cómo se convierte en un ser monstruoso) y la condición poética (enloquecida) del sujeto contemporáneo en POETS, 2015 (polaroids de personajes del mundo del arte reducidos a la condición de seres «abandonados», extraños «poetas» cubiertos exclusivamente con una sábana blanca).
Bernardí Roig ha tratado, desde hace más de veinte años, el pasaje mitológico del encuentro fatal de Acteón con Diana y la conversión de aquel en ciervo (verdadero «cazador cazado» que no podrá contar lo que ha visto mientras sufre el cruel despedazamiento de su cuerpo por parte de sus perros) considerándolo clave para su obsesiva teoría de la visión en el borde de la ceguera.
En la exposición Cuidado con la cabeza se incluyen procesos (seriales) fotográficos, instalaciones en las que es determinante la presencia de fluorescentes, dibujos, esculturas, objetos y vídeos. Asimismo, Bernardí Roig ha planteado una impresionante intervención en la fachada del edificio que alberga la Sala Alcalá 31 y, en su afán de cuestionar los modos habituales de presentación de las obras de arte, una obra será alojada en un pozo de respiración forzada de la cercana línea de Metro de Banco de España. A lo largo de toda su obra este artista ha estado hablando «de ese hombre que decidió arrancarse los ojos para escapar a la turbulencia del deseo», y en este proyecto expositivo lo que hace es intensificar eso que podemos llamar el (preocupante) peso de la cabeza. Emplea infinidad de registros plásticos para dar cuenta de lo que le obsesiona, sin dejar de advertirnos que tenemos que tener «cuidado» cuando nos adentramos en un espacio en el que tal vez nos resulte difícil contar lo que hemos visto.

P1280574 - There is a long sad story to all of this. The council along with various local organisations managed to get some lottery funding to re work the bowling green and build a skate park. Now you have to remember most of the councillors are 60 plus. So a bit one sided from me an ex youth worker, but today x years after a million odd quid was spent on a top notch bowling green and club house it's still in use.
Skate park, close three times, why against the advice of specialist, construction engineers which was NOT to build a wooden structure right next to the sea, they did and subsequently is has become unsafe three times since it's construction.
Along with the youth club cuts and in some cases closure, I came only assume that the youth of Ryde and other areas on the Isle of Wight will return to it's poll position on the national legal for the most under age pregnancy's alongside the higher ratings for drug and alcohol abuse in teenagers and pre teens. Additional cost to area in looking after these problems and caring for the results that it will bring. Glad the government is looking after the young with their Duty of Care.........enough, I'll stop now before I get really going
