Last in my short series of not very good pictures of birds I saw on my canal holiday. This picture doubles as my annual photo of a heron.
Its not that we didn't see many herons, there were plenty, but I was usually driving the boat when we saw them.

With a grant from Birds Caribbean, SGU students and alumni are in the field today, hosting a Bird Sleuth workshop for science teachers across the nation.
The Bird Sleuths aim to develop primary school curriculum to inspire young people to connect to local habitats, explore biodiversity, and engage in citizen science projects.

Birdwatching Bulgaria is paradise for those who love being in the nature and enjoy the company of birds.
Via Pontica and Via Aristotelis – things to do in Bulgaria for bird-lovers
Two of the five European routes of the bird migration are in Bulgaria. They are Via Pontica and Via Aristotelis. These two go through the small territory of the country.
O Urubu-de-cabeça-vermelha (Cathartes aura), assim como os demais representantes do gênero Cathartes, são especializados em encontrar alimento (carne em decomposição) através do olfato. Para tanto, voam baixo, com vôos rasantes e manobras próximas ao solo com suas asas compridas, a fim de encontrar carcaças de pequenos animais . Outros representantes do gênero chegam a encontrar pequenos animais mortos no solo até em florestas densas como a Amazônia. Outros representas da família, como o Urubu-Preto, muito comum e conhecido, e o Urubu-rei, se utilizam mais da visão, apuradíssima para encontrar alimento. Possuem asas mais largas, com as quais planam a grandes alturas e bicos mais fortes, habilitados para destroçar carcaças grandes e couros de grandes mamíferos.
