a pair of Wattled Lapwings nesting on rocks in the Kafue River were very nervous as there was an African Harrier-Hawk (Gymnogene) scanning the area.
One of their 2 chicks went immediately into hiding but this one wanted to stay on top of the rock

Behavior of these birds:
Probes into sand or mud with its long bill for aquatic invertebrates. Sometimes walks while probing or takes a few steps before burying its bill into the mud. Social outside of the breeding season; forages in groups and also with Willets, Whimbrels, and Long-billed Curlews.

Because they find prey using the sensitive tips of their bills, and not just eyesight, Willets can feed both during the day and at night.

Hoping the Wood ducks nest here this year. Last year I photographed a hen in this box. It was the only time I seen it.

This male Green-winged Teal showed smartly at Niven Lake, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. With a reflection as a bonus… Despite its small size, this species breeds to treelimit and even farther north in the High Arctic of North America.

Yeah, a catbird. Got to be one of the most annoying birds out there, but, I couldn't pass up this perch and background.

Female Sparrowhawk which perched obligingly for 20 mins outside the Estuary Tower at Slimbridge WWT!
A striated heron perched on a waterside branch. This is not a particularly bold species, but this one allowed us to get quite close.
The branch was nicely diagonal to allow for a good composition without the need to crop.
Sapphire-spangled Emeralds frequent rainforest edges, humid or gallery forests, second growth, clearings, orchards, and gardens. Males defend flower territories and are rather diverse in their flower preferences. These emeralds can be difficult to identify in the field: they are mostly olive-green above with whitish middle and lower underparts. In favorable lighting, their throats sparkle with violet-blue.

The reed warbler is a bird of reed beds and other riparian vegetation and usually builds its nest in reed beds. Its ideal habitat consists of a combination of young and old reeds and a dense, partly high-growing herb layer. It eats insects that it collects low in the dense vegetation. The reed warbler is a migratory bird and winters south of the Sahel. Reed warblers show themselves well when singing. The males climb to the top of a reed stem and often perform a short song flight, after which they descend again like a parachute.
Contrairement à l'adulte, le juvénile Phoenicopterus roseus est gris-brun avec les parties inférieures plus claires.
The female House Sparrows in my garden seem to get on very well and as a rule do not often fight These two males seem to think it is their duty every time they see each other to have a very loud and public battle . Showing off in front of the girls I suspect !
House Sparrow are still a common bird in Uk in gardens parks and around farms . They feed on grain buds and scraps . They are listed as a red list species which means they at serious risk. In the last 15 years the House Sparrow population in London has dropped by almost 70% and they are now completely absent from many city centers
