From Captain Kangaroo to Rome, Italy.

Gordon Keith has made his mark in the world. This artist is well versed, in many different fields, from painting and sculpture to design of all kinds. He studied under Alice Schille of Columbus, Ohio and the late Chester Nichodemes, a sculptor. He served honorably in World War II in the 1621 st model making detachment where he was attached to the 5th army and made invasion models for Italy and Southern France. And work along side of Conger Metcalf another great painter for four years during the war effort.

 

In 1948 after the war, Gordon started his own store fixture and design company in boston called Gordon Keith Originals, Later move to Indian lake with his sister and did plaster castings before going back to his home town (Columbus Ohio) and setting up shop, In his hay day he had a company with store in the front call Gordon Keith’s Red Barn. Many that remember the barn will remember a giant rooster by the road side and when driving down into the complex seeing a fiberglass horse and cart outside the front door, A horse head above the entrance. This was the place to buy small nick nacks like glitter, ribbon and trinkets to grandma’s porch were one could get a bit to eat or a cold soda while enjoying a country setting. A second store on Wall St next to Lazarus and even one in side the Union Company. He created the Yankee Candle risers, Macy’s 1st foor cosmetics tables risers, Henry Bendel pink chandeliers Juicy Couture Carts

And the Macy’s, Waterford Crystal millennium collection, and over 300 hundred other major department stores coast to coast and abroad.

 

For over 65 years Keith has designed and installed major displays in eight different countries. From Talking Tree for Lazarus 6th floor for Christmas, Including the television show Captain Kangaroo and Lucy’s Toy Shop props to the Electric Company and the Union Company. From Downtown Christmas parades and Fourth of July parades to the State Auto Nativity Scene that at one time graced our State Capital building. The lighted trees in the windows of the German Village Tower and the doll cases at 180 West Broad street were also two very notable projects. Gordon Keith is a life time member of COSI for creating and building the Street of Yesterday Year in the old COSI location, On west Broad St. Complete with hoof prints in the cement to the five cent theater and penny candy store.

 

If you think Mr. Keith was one to rest while on vacation, think again. Gordon traveled to Tiki Gardens in Indian Rocks Beach where he visited life-long friends Frank and Jo Byars and designed a theme park that millions toured each year complete with Tiki Gods, fire torches and a Polynesian flavor. He went to Liberty parks and designed the hound dog plush animal for their theme park that is located in Tennessee, hometown to Elvis. Long term friend, Congressman Chalmers P. Wylie had Gordon do all of his campaign headquarters, from the Statue of Liberty of his TV spots. Keith also designed the famous 12 panel fiberglass screens that still ride the train to this day and voice over for the freedom train when it was here in 1976 depicting Betty Ross to landing on the moon. Gordon has helped with and contributed to special interest groups including Pilot Dogs Inc., the Symphony Ball, ARC, and the Candy Cane Ball. Gordon’s latest venture was selling 95 of his original paintings to the Le Veque tower for there renovations in 2012

  

Gordon’s art and sculptures have been exhibited in museums and galleries nationwide and are in many permanent collections. Some noteworthy exhibitions occurred at the French Art Colony, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the Licking County Arts Center, Middletown Ohio, and the Schumacher Gallery, in Columbus, Ohio, Springfield Art Gallery. Gordon’s work is also included in a private collection included in the Cincinnati Union Train Terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gordon worked with Steve Silken and created all the hanging train art that graced all of the hallways of the building as well as many of the store designs which still remain today.

 

His works have been shown at the Art Expo in New York, Columbus Museum of Fine Arts, Grant Medical Center, Springfield Museum, Southern Hotel art gallery, and the Columbus City Hall where he has sold many original pieces of work.

 

Hand painted murals by Gordon Keith span from Tampa FL, Hilton Hotels all the way to Algiers, Africa, Malaga, Spain, Naples, Caserta, and Rome Italy. Several of his paintings are at the Tokyo Art Gallery, Tokyo, Japan and Brenan, University Granville.

Nascido em 1911* na cidade de Japaratuba, em Sergipe, Arthur Bispo do Rosário se mudou em 1925 para o Rio de Janeiro, alistando-se na Escola de Aprendizes de Marinha. Durante oito anos foi, além de marinheiro, pugilista. Em 1933 foi admitido pela Light, como lavador de bondes e borracheiro. Um acidente de trabalho o levou a mover uma ação judicial contra a empresa, estabelecendo contato com o advogado Humberto Leone. Realizou todo tipo de trabalho doméstico em sua residência, em troca de comida e moradia. Em dezembro de 1938, Bispo do Rosário alucina e afirma ter visto Cristo surgir no quintal da casa, acompanhado de sete anjos azuis. Perambula pela cidade por dois dias, até que é internado no manicômio da Praia Vermelha. No ano seguinte, diagnosticado esquizofrênico-paranóico, é transferido para a Colônia Juliano Moreira, em Jacarepaguá, subúrbio do Rio de Janeiro. Ele só sairia do hospício em 1944, e apos isso, em várias idas e vindas, assumiu funções como porteiro de hotel, ajudante de escritório de advocacia e guarda-costas de um senador. No início da década de 1960 foi admitido em uma clínica pediátrica como faxineiro e faz-tudo. Nessa época Bispo morou isolado no sótão e desenvolveu parte de sua produção. Em 1964, finalmente retornou à Colônia Juliano Moreira, onde passou a ocupar, progressivamente, com suas obras, um labirinto de celas no pavilhão 10, no coração do manicômio, de onde nunca sairia. De sucata e de sobras, Bispo deu origem a centenas de objetos e miniaturas, assemblages e bordados, mantos e estandartes. Artífice de um vocabulário próprio, nos escuros interiores da colônia, ele reinventou sapatos, xícaras, martelos, rolhas, lápis, saboneteiras, relógios, pentes, em uma lista interminável que ele não cansava de ampliar. Ansioso, produzia para catalogar o quanto pudesse, antes que chegasse o grande dia da prestação de contas perante Deus, Nunca se considerou um artista, mas um ser iluminado, filho da Virgem Maria, incumbido de salvar parte do mundo real e suas almas. Bispo seguiu, inabalável, sua odisseia como criador de uma obra única até o dia 5 de julho de 1989, quando morreu, aos 78 anos, vítima de infarto do miocárdio e arteriosclerose. Em outubro de 1989 foi inaugurada, na Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, a primeira mostra individual em sua homenagem. No início de 1993, o MAM-RJ promoveu a mais completa retrospectiva, reunindo quase 800 peças. A consagração internacional veio em 1995, na 46ª Bienal de Veneza. Em 200, seu trabalho foi um dos grandes destaques na Mostra do Redescobrimento do Brasil + 500, em São Paulo. No final de 2001, parte dessa exposição seguiu para o Museu Guggenheim como Brazil: Body and Soul. Suas obras têm integrado importantes exposições coletivas, como Viva Brasil Viva (1991, em Estocolomo), Así Está La Cosa: Instalación y Arte Objeto en America Latina (1997, na cidade do México), Cotidiano/Arte. O Objeto – Anos 90 e Por que Duchamp? (ambas em 1999, em São Paulo). Fundação Cartier (2001, em Paris). Arthur Bispo do Rosário was Born in 1911 (or 1909) in Japaratuba, in the state of Sergipe and moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1925, where he entered the Navy Cadet School. For eight years he was a sailor and, too, a boxer. In 1933 he went to work for the Light company to wash streetcars and repair tyres. An accident at work led him to sue the company and introduced him to Humberto Leone, a lawyer, for whom he came to do all kinds of domestic tasks in exchange for room and board. In December 1938 Bispo do Rosário hallucinated and saw Christ emerge from de back yard of Leone’s house, accompanied by seven blue engels. He wandered around Rio de Janeiro for two days until he was interned in the Praia Vermelha mental hospital. The following years, he was diagnosed as paranoid schizofrenic and transferred to the Juliano Moreira Colony in Jacarepaguá, in the suburbs of Rio. He left the asylum in 1944 and from that time worked, on and off, as a hotel doorman, assistant in a lawyer’s office and bodyguard for a senator. At the beginning of the 1960s he was hired as a janitor and handyman at a pediatric clinic. At that time, Bispo lived alone in a garret and produced part of his work. In 1964 he returned to the Juliano Moreira Colony and begun to fill a labyrinth of cells in Pavillion 10 with his work, filling the heart of the asylum that he never left again. Bispo made hundreds of objects and miniatures, assemblages and embroidery, canopies and banners out of junk and scraps. Author of his own particular vocabulary, in the dark interior of the colony he reinvented shoes, cups, hammers, corks, pencils, soap dishes, watches and combs in an endless list that he tirelessly made longer. He was anxious to catalogue everything he could before the great day of accounting before God. He never considered himself an artist, but an enlightened being, son of the Virgin Mary, who had been assigned to save part of the real world and its souls. Bispo stayed the course in his odyssey as creator of a unique oeuvre until July 5, 1989, when he died at the age of 78, of a heart attack and arteriosclerosis. In October 1989, the Parque Lage Visual Arts School held the first individual exhibition in his honor. At the beginning of 1993 the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro sponsored a more complete retrospective of almost 800 pieces. International fame came in 1995, at the 46th Venice Biennale. In 2000 his work was one of the highlights of the Rediscovery of Brazil Exhibition Brazil + 500, in São Paulo. At the end of 2001, part of that exhibition was sent to the Guggenheim Museum in New York in the Brazil: Body and Soul show. His work has been part of other important collective exhibitions, like Viva Brasil Viva (1991, in Stockholm), Así Está la Cosa: Instalación y Arte Objeto en America Latina (1997, in Mexico City), Cotidiano/Arte. O Objeto – Anos 90 and Por que Duchamp? (both in 1999, in São Paulo), Cartier Foundation (2001, in Paris). Today, the Bispo do Rosário Museum at the Juliano Moreira Colony holds and preserves all of what he made.

Dennis Edwards

 

Dennis Edwards Jr. (February 3, 1943 – February 1, 2018) was an American soul and R&B singer who was best known

 

as the frontman in The Temptations, on Motown Records. Edwards joined the Temptations in 1968, replacing David

 

Ruffin and sang with the group from 1968 to 1976, 1980 to 1984 and 1987 to 1989. In the mid-1980s, he attempted

 

a solo career, scoring a hit in 1984 with "Don't Look Any Further" (featuring Siedah Garrett). Until his death,

 

Edwards was the lead singer of The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, a Temptations splinter group.

  

Biography

Early years and career

Edwards was born in Fairfield, Alabama,[1] about eight miles from Birmingham, to Reverend Dennis Edwards Sr. He

 

began singing as a toddler, just two years old, in his father's church. The Edwards family moved to Detroit,

 

Michigan when Edwards was about ten years old, and Edwards would continue to sing in the church pastored by his

 

father, eventually becoming choir director.[2]

 

As a teenager, Edwards joined a gospel vocal group called The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and studied music at the

 

Detroit Conservatory of Music.[2] He was not allowed to sing or listen to secular music at home, and his mother

 

disapproved when he began pursuing a career singing rhythm and blues music.[2] In 1961 he organized his own

 

soul/jazz group, Dennis Edwards and the Fireballs.[3] In 1961,[4] Edwards recorded a single for the obscure

 

Detroit label, International Soulville Records, "I Didn't Have to (But I Did)" b/w "Johnnie on the Spot".[3]

 

Following time served in the US military, in 1966 Edwards auditioned for Detroit's Motown Records, where he was

 

signed but placed on retainer. Later that year, he was assigned to join The Contours after their lead singer,

 

Billy Gordon, fell ill.[2] In 1967, the Contours were the opening act for several Temptations concerts, and

 

Temptations members Eddie Kendricks and Otis Williams – who were considering replacing their own lead singer,

 

David Ruffin (who was a personal friend of Edwards[5]), took notice of Edwards and made his acquaintance.[2]

 

1967–1984: The Temptations years

Later in 1967, Edwards quit the Contours and was placed back on retainer.[2] He attempted to get a release from

 

his contract, as Holland–Dozier–Holland had promised to sign him to their new Invictus Records, but was drafted

 

in late June 1968 to join the Temptations, who had just fired Ruffin from the act.[2][6] Ruffin had tipped

 

Edwards off that he was being drafted as his replacement, which eased Edwards's conscience in replacing him.

The Temptations officially introduced Edwards on July 9, 1968 on stage in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. However,

 

Ruffin, who was attempting to make his way back into the group, crashed the stage during Edwards's lead vocal

 

on "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" to significant applause.[6] He continued similar stunts for about a month until,

 

according to Edwards, the group decided to lay-off Edwards — with the promise of a solo deal from Motown — and

 

rehire Ruffin.[6] When Ruffin failed to show for his return engagement in Gaithersburg, Maryland the next

 

night, Edwards was permanently kept on and the Temptations refused to entertain rehiring Ruffin any further.[6]

 

Edwards was the first singer to join the Temptations after their "Classic 5" period. With his rougher gospel-

 

hewn vocals, Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk, and disco periods, singing on hits such as

 

"Cloud Nine" (1968), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)"

 

(1970), "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" (1972), and "Shakey Ground" (1975), among others. Two of these songs, "Cloud

 

Nine" and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", won Grammy Awards.[3] During this time, Edwards was engaged to Yvonne

 

"Frankie" Gearing, the lead singer of Quiet Elegance, who toured with The Temptations as their backing group.

 

Edwards remained in the Temptations until being fired by Otis Williams in 1977 just before the group's

 

departure from Motown to Atlantic Records. After a failed attempt at a Motown solo career, Edwards rejoined the

 

Temptations in 1980, when they returned to Motown.[3] In 1982, Edwards got the chance to sing with Ruffin and

 

Eddie Kendricks as part of the Reunion album and tour. Edwards began missing shows and rehearsals, and was

 

replaced in 1984 by Ali-Ollie Woodson.[citation needed] In 1989, Edwards was inducted into the Rock and Roll

 

Hall of Fame as a member of The Temptations.[8] Edwards was also inducted into Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame with

 

The Temptations in 2013.

 

1984–1990: Solo career

Motown re-launched Edwards's solo career, in 1984 with the hit single "Don't Look Any Further," a duet with

 

Siedah Garrett.[3] The album of the same name reached No. 2 on the R&B charts and included the radio singles

 

"(You're My) Aphrodisiac" and "Just Like You."[9] When problems arose between Woodson and the Temptations in

 

1987, Edwards was brought back once again.

 

He and the group recorded the album entitled “Together Again”, featuring the hit single “I Wonder Who She’s

 

Seeing Now”.

 

Edwards was again replaced by Woodson in 1989 after leaving the group for a third and final time.

 

1990–1994: Ruffin, Kendricks, and Edwards

Edwards toured and recorded with fellow ex- David Ruffin during the late 1980s as "Ruffin/Kendricks/Edwards,

 

former leads of The Temptations", although nothing was released.[3] The 1998 Street Gold DVD Original Leads of

 

the Temptations documents this historic period.[10] After the deaths of Ruffin (1991) and Kendricks (1992),

 

Edwards was forced to wrap up the project alone. In 1990, Dennis teamed up with Kendricks to release a

 

dance/club track for A&B Records entitled "Get It While It's Hot". The track was recorded at Fredrick Knight's

 

recording studio in the duo's old home town of Birmingham, Alabama; it was produced and engineered by house

 

music pioneer Alan Steward. The track created a lot of controversy, as it contained a short rap sequence which

 

did not sit very well with die-hard Temptations fans. Edwards's Don't Look Any Further: the Remix Album was

 

released in 1998, containing updated dance mixes and the original 1984 track.[citation needed]

During the 1990s, Edwards began touring under the name 'Dennis Edwards & the Temptations', prompting a legal

 

battle between himself and Otis Williams. It was decided that Edwards's group would be called The Temptations

 

Review featuring Dennis Edwards (this name remains extant). Edwards's group included Paul Williams Jr. (son of

 

original Temptations member Paul Williams), David Sea, Mike Patillo, and Chris Arnold.[citation needed] Edwards

 

was portrayed by Charles Ley in the 1998 biographical television mini-series The Temptations, though he was not

 

heavily focused upon, as the mini-series gave more attention to the Ruffin/Kendricks-era Temptations lineup.

 

[citation needed] The Temptations Review group was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame on October

 

4, 2015 in Detroit, Michigan, when Edwards was also given the Living Legend Award.[citation needed]

 

Personal life and death

Edwards had a relationship with singer Aretha Franklin, who stated he was the inspiration behind her 1972

 

R&B/Soul song Day Dreaming.[11] Edwards was briefly married to Ruth Pointer, whom he wed in Las Vegas in 1977.

 

[12] The couple had one daughter, Issa Pointer, who became a member of her mother's vocal group, The Pointer

 

Sisters. While in Detroit, Dennis and an unknown woman conceived his last daughter, Martika Edwards who still

 

lives in Detroit today and celebrates her fathers legacy. Edwards moved to Florissant, Missouri in the 1980s to

 

be closer to his mother.[13]

 

Edwards died in a Chicago hospital on February 1, 2018, two days before his 75th birthday. He had been battling

 

meningitis before his death.[14][15]

Silvia Evermist was born in a low-class British neighbourhood sometime in the early 1800's. Her parents abused her night and day, rain or shine. Eventually, at the age of twelve she decided enough was enough and she ran away.

 

Silvia had no relatives to go to, for they had all moved to the New World, so she was forced to live as a street urchin. She began to make a name for herself, stealing goods for other homeless children and herself. She even earned the nickname "Silence" from her fellow thieves, as she was especially talented at stealing and exiting the area without being noticed.

 

At sixteen, her best friend Sasha was murdered by thugs working for a crime lord. Enraged, Silvia spared no measures tracking down the criminal who had had her friend killed. When she finally did find him, she crushed the man with his own chandelier.

One day, The League requested her to perform a task that hit close to home; she had to kill her parents to prove total faith. Now, she hated her parents, but she could not bring herself to kill them. She refused, but the League was disappointed. They dealt with her in their own cruel way.

 

One day on her way to the store, Silvia was ambushed by a group of black magic practicing psychos hired by the League. The magicians altered her once beautiful physical features into a horrendous white faced monster that was doomed to walk the earth that way till the end of time.

 

Silvia sought revenge on The League with her new found powers of shadow and soul manipulation. She murdered nearly half The League, taking their souls and flesh to replenish her powers.

 

She knew that something still had to be done to evil in the world, but she now saw vigilantism as a form of evil. And so now, anyone who commits acts against the law, whether it be theft, murder or vigilantism, you know the name Silence, and you know it will be the last thing you see...

Pride and Prejudice: on Raphael Perez's Artwork

   

Raphael Perez, born in 1965, studied art at the College of Visual Arts in Beer Sheva, and from 1995 has been living and working in his studio in Tel Aviv. Today Perez plays an important role in actively promoting the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) art and culture in Tel Aviv, and the internet portal he set up helps artists from the community reach large audiences in Israel and abroad. Hundreds of his artworks are part of private collections in Israel and abroad, and his artworks were shown in several group exhibitions: in Tel Aviv Museum of Art, "Zman Le'Omanut" art gallery, Camera Obscura, The Open House in Jerusalem, Ophir Gallery, The Haifa Forum and other private businesses and galleries.

 

In 2003-4 his paintings and studio appeared in a full-length movie, three student films and two graduation films.

   

Raphael Perez is the first Israeli artist to express his lifestyle as a Gay. His life and the life of the LGBT community are connected and unfold over hundreds of artwork pieces. His art creation is rare and extraordinary by every Israeli and international artistic standard. His sources of inspiration are first and foremost life events intertwined in Jewish and Israeli locality as well as influences and quotes from art history (David Hockney, Matisse). This uniqueness has crossed international borders and has succeeded in moving the LGBT and art communities around the world.

   

This is the first time we meet an Israeli artist who expresses all of his emotions in a previously unknown strength. The subjects of the paintings are the everyday life of couples in everyday places and situations, along with the aspiration to a homosexual relationship and family, equality and public recognition. Perez's works bring forward to the cultural space and to the public discourse the truth about living as LGBT and about relationships, with all of their aspects – casual relationships and sex, the yearning for love, the everyday life and the mundane activities that exist in every romantic relationship – whether by describing two men in an intimate scene in the bathroom, the bedroom or the toilet, a male couple raising a baby or the homosexual version of the Garden of Eden, family dinners, relationship ups and downs, the complexity in sharing a life as well as mundane, everyday life competing with the aspiration to self realization – through Perez's life.

     

Perez's first artworks are personal diaries, which he creates at 14 years of age. He makes sure to hide these diaries, as in them he keeps a personal journal describing his life events in the most genuine way. In these journals he draws thousands of drawings and sketches, next to which he alternately writes and erases his so-called "problematic texts", texts describing his struggle with his sexual orientation. His diaries are filled with obsessive cataloging of details, daily actions, friends and work, as well as repeating themes, such as thoughts, exhibits he has seen, movies, television, books and review of his work.

   

When he is done writing, Perez draws on his diaries. Each layer is done from beginning to end all along the journal. In fact, the work on the diaries never ends.

 

This struggle never ends, and when the emotion is passed on to paper, and it ends its role and becomes meaningless in a way, the visual-graphic side becomes dominant, due to the need to hide the written text, according to Perez. In books and diaries this stands out even more – when he chooses to draw in a style influenced by children's drawings, the characters are cheerful, happy, naïve and do not portray any sexuality, and when he tries drawing as an adult the sketches became more depressed and somber. During these years Perez works with preschool children, teaching them drawing and movement games. Perez says that during this period he completely abandoned the search for a relationship, either with a woman or a man, and working with children has given him existential meaning. This creation continues over 10 years, and Perez creates about 60 books-personal journals in various sizes (notepads, old notebooks, atlases and even old art books).

   

In his early paintings (1998-1999) the transition from relationships with women to relationships with men can be seen, from restraint to emotional outburst in color, lines and composition. Some characters display strong emotional expression. The women are usually drawn in restraint and passiveness, while a happy and loving emotional outburst is expressed in the colors and style of the male paintings.

   

"I fantasized that in a relationship with a woman I could fly in the sky, love, fly. However, I felt I was hiding something; I was choked up, hidden behind a mask, as if there was an internal scream wanting to come out. I was frustrated, I felt threatened…"

   

His first romance with a man in 1999 has drawn out a series of naïve paintings dealing with love and the excitement of performing everyday actions together in the intimate domestic environment.

   

"The excitement from each everyday experience of doing things together and the togetherness was great, so I painted every possible thing I liked doing with him."

   

From the moment the self-oppression and repression stopped, Perez started the process of healing, which was expressed in a burst of artworks, enormous in their size, amount, content and vivid colors – red, pink and white.

   

In 2000 Perez starts painting the huge artworks describing the hangouts of the LGBT community (The Lake, The Pool) and the Tel Avivian balcony paintings describing the masculine world, which, according to him, becomes existent thanks to the painting. Perez has dedicated this year to many series of drawings and paintings of the experience of love, in which he describes his first love for his new partner, and during these months he paints from morning to night. These paintings are the fruit of a long dialogue with David Hockney, and the similarity can be seen both in subjects and in different gestures.

   

In 2001 Perez creates a series of artworks, "Portraits from The Community". Perez describes in large, photorealistic paintings over 20 portraits of active and well-known members of the LGBT community. The emphasis is on the achievements that reflect the community's strong standing in Tel Aviv.

 

As a Tel-Avivian painter, in the past two years Perez has been painting urban landscapes of central locations in his city. Perez wanders around the city and chooses familiar architectural and geographical landmarks, commerce and recreation, and historical sites, and paints them from a homosexual point of view, decorated with the rainbow flag, which provide a sense of belonging to the place. His artworks are characterized by a cheerful joie de vivre and colors, and they also describe encounters and meetings. The touristic nature of his paintings makes them a declaration of Tel Aviv's image as a place where cultural freedom prevails.

 

Perez's Tel Aviv is a city where young families and couples live and fill the streets, the parks, the beach, the houses and the balconies – all the city's spaces. The characters in his paintings are similar, which helps reinforcing the belonging to the LGBT community in Tel Aviv. The collective theme in Perez's artwork interacts with the work of the Israeli artist Yohanan Simon, who dealt with the social aspects of the Kibbutz. Simon, who lived and worked in a Kibbutz, expressed the human model of the Kibbutznik (member of a Kibbutz) and the uniqueness of the Kibbutz members as part of a group where all are equal. Simon's works, and now Perez's, have contributed to the Israeli society what is has been looking for endlessly, which is a sense of identity and belonging.

 

Perez maps his territory and marks his boundaries, and does not forget the historical sites. Unlike other Tel Avivian artists, Perez wishes to present the lives of the residents of the city and the great love in their hearts. By choosing the historical sites in Tel Aviv, he also pays tribute to the artist Nachum Gutman, who loved the city and lived in it his whole life. In his childhood Gutman experienced historical moments (lighting the first oil lamp, first concert, first pavement), and as an adult he recreated the uniqueness of those events while keeping the city's magic.

 

Like Gutman, Perez has also turned the city into an object of love, and it has started adorning itself in rich colors and supplying the energy of a city that wishes to be "the city that never sleeps", combining old and new. Perez meticulously describes the uniqueness and style of the Bauhaus houses and balconies along the modern glass and steel buildings, all from unusual angles in a rectangular format that wishes to imitate the panorama of a diverse city in its centennial celebrations.

My mother really loved gardening and nature and both of them together created a magnificent garden, my parents have a relatively large garden so they could grow many types of special and rare medicinal plants and my father even wrote a catalog (unpublished) of medicinal plants and we even had botany students come to us who were interested in the field... today they They also grow ornamental plants, and fruit trees...

Let me tell you a little bit about myself

 

My real name is Alejandro (Alex), people call me Felpa (Felpa is the stuff that is inside stuffed animals) because when I was little a girl hugged me and she said that it felt like hugging a huge stuffed bear, people started calling me “Osito” (teddy bear) but it was way 2 gay and then someone called me Felpa and it just stayed.

 

I’m 20 years old but if I don’t shave people calculate me 25 and if I shave people calculate me about 18, I have 7 piercings; 2 in my eyebrow, one on my left ear, one on my lip, one on my tongue and my lobes are gauged to ½”. I wanna get a koi fish tattoo on my right leg which I’m saving the money for too.

 

I’m from Mexico but I don’t look Mexican because my skin is very white, that’s because I hate sunlight and I avoid being outside when the sun is shining and mostly on hot days, I speak Spanish and English fluently and a little bit of German. I’m overweight but I’m not ashamed of it, when somebody calls me fat I don’t get mad/sad or smth, it’s like if I called a small guy small. I hate people who eat because they’re sad and then get sad because they ate but don’t do anything about it. I have 3 Chihuahua dogs named Loogie, Dillo and Dog and 2 turtles.

 

I had a cousin who committed suicide, he hanged himself from the stairs.

 

When I was about 10 my dad became a workaholic, sure we had more money but we stopped being a family and when my mom told my dad to choose between his family or his work, he chose his work. My parents divorced and at first it was all good. Saw him on weekends and shit like that then he stopped caring and started to stood me up and things like that. When I got mad one time because of that I called him and started to tell him that that was not cool when he just replied “The only type of relationship I want with you is an economic one” meaning he just will support me financially. Haven’t seen him or spoken to him ever since, I was 10 at the time. One time I ran into him and he did not recognize me, I guess 10 years can really change a person while growing up.

 

I hate the world and I hate most of the people in it

 

I am a gamer for life, I love first and third person shooters. I play on my Xbox 360 that I have hooked up to a home theater for the ultimate gaming experience and I built a custom pc that’s designed specifically to play.

 

I use my laptop to edit most of my pictures because if I edit on my desktop everything gets mixed up and I hate having some pictures in one place and some pictures on another place and such.

 

Music is the soundtrack of life, one of my main loves is music, I have a favorite band for different genres.

 

My favorite bands/artists are;

I love South Park but mostly I just love Cartman.

I love beer and whiskey. If I drink vodka I get really fucked up. Once in a club I only drank vodka for the night. I don’t remember what happened; the next day my friends told me that I almost got into a fight with a guy, I grabbed the waiter’s ass, that I yelled things like “you’re all a bunch of fucking bitches fuck you” to my ex girlfriend’s friends, I puked one time in the club and 2 times on the way home and woke up in my bathroom floor.

 

I’ve only smoked weed a couple of times, never tried any other drug before but I wanna try acids and E.

 

I love a girl that’s in Paris, she completes me.

 

I have about 10 friends, but I don’t see a lot of them because most of them have girlfriends and are pussy-whipped, one moved away to study philosophy on another city and sometimes they busy with school or work shit and things like that. My oldest and dearest friend is called Ivan, we’ve known each other for 14 years.

 

I love cooking, I used to hate it but then I moved out and when I realized that mom wasn’t there anymore to cook I learned by myself and I fell in love with it. I have weird eating habbits, I think ketchup is the ultimate condiment and I pour it into everything. I eat with plastic silverware (I hate when metal touches my teeth), Italian and Argentine food are my favs.

 

I think life is like poker and you’re not gonna choose the cards your dealt with and that time is not a doctor and only heals what doesn’t matter anymore.

 

I like sleeping in my boxers covered with the bed sheets but with the AC turned on.

 

My hometown room is decorated with stolen stuff (Signs, propaganda, things like that) One time I got home with a public phone I stole and my mom told me “Wow Alejandro, what’s next? Cars?” and I was like “Maybe..” hahaha

 

I don’t dress classy or nothing, pair of vans, blue jeans and a band tee is what you’ll mostly see me in.

 

I have a problem with authority, I don’t feel anyone has the right to tell me how to live or do things and that’s mostly why I always get in trouble at school or with my mother. It’s my way and if you don’t like it you can just fuck yourself.

 

I can’t think of anymore to say, if you have questions about me or something I’ll be glad to answer them.

INTERIOR: Trainer and boxer. A bearded trainer stands to the right, but looks back over his shoulder to the left. He wears a himation (black border; battlement border around shoulder only), shoes and a red apicate fillet in his hair (tails at back). The hair down the median line of his stomach is done with irregular short strokes in dilute glaze. He holds a forked stick out in his right hand; his left is within a bunch of drapery behind his back. On the right stands a naked athlete tying a thong (drawn in relief lines) around his raised right hand and wrist. His left leg is frontal, his right leg flexed behind his left with only the toes touching the ground. He has a red apicate fillet in his hair (tails at back). Preliminary sketch reveals that the trainer's arm was originally intended to have been bent up at 90°, holding his stick vertically.

Border: dotted cross-squares alternating with three units of stopt maeander (anticlockwise); additional maeander unit at 10 o'clock.

EXTERIOR: athletes.

Side A (upper): boxers and pancratiasts. On the left is a pair of boxers in a bout. The boxer on the left has his left arm bent up in front, his right arm back, and there is a dilute line on his cheek. His opponent, facing to the left, is seen in three-quarter back view, his left arm out in front, his right drawn back for a blow. His cheek is heavily marked with relief lines, under the eye and along the cheekbone, to denote swelling. The thongs of both boxers around their hands and wrists are painted in red. In the centre is a pair of pancratiasts down on the ground. On the left, the youth has his torso frontal, his right leg tucked up under resting on the ball of the foot and partially obscuring his genitals, his left leg outstretched to the right. His head is turned to the right, his right arm is out to the left, fist clenched to deliver a blow, his left holds his opponent's head in an armlock, his fingers seeming to claw at his opponent's right eye and the palm and heel of his hand covering his mouth. He has a relief line marking his cheekbone and two dilute creases on his brow. His opponent has a frontal face. His legs are wrapped round the first youth's left leg and he has both hands to that youth's face, his thumbs probably searching for his right eye. Above them hangs a discus in a bag - the discus is decorated with a cross and the mouth of the bag with dots - and a pair of thongs. On the right a bearded trainer steps forward, his forked stick raised over his head to stop the fouls and the fight. He is dressed in a himation (black border) and shoes; his left arm is under the himation. On the far right is a column with a plain one step base and a plain termination at the top.

Side Β (lower): hoplitodromos and boxers. On the left a hoplitodromos moves to the right, wearing greaves and a thick reserved fillet round his head. He carries a shield on his left arm and holds a helmet down in his right hand (missing fragment had part of crest and calf of this figure and, on the inside, part of the maeander border). In front of him stands a trainer, whose torso and left leg are fully frontal, but his inclined head is turned to the right. He wears a himation (black border) and a red wreath and holds a forked stick in his right hand, his left arm akimbo under the himation. In the centre a pair of boxers fight with open hands. They both have red thongs around their hands and wrists and the outlines of the cheeks are marked with dilute lines. The boxer on the left has both legs frontal. His left arm is extended in a defensive position, while with his right he wards off the left arm of his opponent. The boxer on the right has his left arm out in front and his right arm bent up over his head; part of his back is visible. Behind him hangs a pair of thongs. On the right stands a boxer holding a red thong stretched between his two hands. His right leg is frontal and his left is turned to the right, but his head faces back to the left. On the far right is a pillar with fluting done in dilute glaze, a plain single step base and plain termination on top, on which rests a pair of thongs. Ground line: two closely set reserved lines. Graffito under foot.

He decorated mainly cups, but also a skyphos (ARV2 403, 37), a phiale (with coral red inside: Getty fragments), a kantharos of type C (ARV2 1651 add as 37 bis), a kantharos with applied masks (Getty 85.AE.263), a head vase (ARV2 382, 184) and a pyxis (Brauron Museum fragments). The earliest works of the Foundry Painter derive from Onesimos' Lykan cups: the Foundry Painter was a pupil of Onesimos (e.g. ARV2 331, 17 [manner of Onesimos]; Para 361, 131 bis [Onesimos]; Para 370 add as 33 bis; AKV2 1651 add as 18 bis; Bloomington see Knauer Foundry Painter, 402, 19). The London athletic cup is an early mature work. Its tondo border ties it to a number of other works by the painter (ARV2 401, 2; 402, 12-13; Para 370, add as 12 bis) and to the Brygos Painter's early mature phase (cf. Vase E68).

The open-handed boxers on the exterior recur on a fragment by the Foundry Painter (ARV2 401, 6) and on an unpublished cup in a New York private collection (Spears) by the Dokimasia Painter (cf. also ARV2 340, 73, Antiphon Painter). They are perhaps engaging in preliminary feints or sparring: see Gardiner AAW 205-6, akrocheirizesthai. On boxing techniques in general see now Poliakoff Combat Sports 80-5.

The pancratiasts on side A demonstrate one of the two forbidden actions of pancratiasts (cf. Aristophanes Birds 442 and Peace 899), namely gouging. We cannot be sure if the pancratiast with the frontal face was biting his opponent, the other outlawed practice, but given the opportunity provided, it seems most likely that he would have done so. For a full discussion of the pankration see Gardiner AAW 212-21 and, most recently, Poliakoff Combat Sports.

For the Foundry Painter's nonsense inscriptions cf. now Immerwahr Attic Script 89: writing 'without bothering to turn the cup'. This is most noticeable in the production of the Es. The retrograde graffito is perhaps more Greek than Etruscan.

Notes: According to McCauley Galerie des contemporains could either be purchased in volumes of 25 biographies or assembled by subscribers. Disdéri reached an agreement with the editor Zacharias Dollingen in which Dollingen hired journalists to provide the biographical notices which would accompany Disdéri's photographs.

 

André-Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri (1819 - 1889) a self-taught daguerreotypist, researched and improved upon the existing collodion-on-glass negative process, which he outlined in his first publication, Manuel Opératoire de Photographie sur Collodion Instantané, 1853. That same year, he returned to Paris and opened the largest studio in Paris, which spread across two floors. It was there that he introduced his carte-de-visite portraits which were a great financial success. For the 1855 Paris Exposition Universelle, he formed the Société du Palais de l'Industrie and obtained the rights to photograph all the products and works of art exhibited at the Exposition. Eder writes "Disdéri was considered the outstanding portrait photographer of his time in Paris. Napoleon III appointed him court photographer. In 1861, he instructed French officers in photography under orders from the minister of war. Disdéri's popularity is best shown by the fact that his character was introduced in 1861 as a star attraction on the stage of a small vaudeville theater in Paris by a realistic representation featuring his bald head and tremendous beard."

Chaim Soutine moved to Paris in 1913 and worked in relative obscurity until 1922, when the noted American collector Dr. Albert C. Barnes purchased fifty-four of his Expressionist paintings for his foundation in Merion, Pennsylvania. Barnes was attracted to the artist’s thickly painted portraits and turbulent landscape paintings, and his unprecedented acquisition of almost the entire contents of Soutine’s studio meant that the artist suddenly achieved fame and financial security after almost a decade of poverty and struggle for recognition. This portrait of the Polish-born artist Moïse Kisling ( 1891-1953) is an incisive likeness of his close friend, although the energetic paint handlinhg imbues the work with a startling Expressionist force.

Next instalment of my autobiography. This is the Police H.Q. Bridgend where 44 years ago last week I first walked through the gates to start my basic training. We stayed in large Nissen Huts (14 to a room). My two lasting memories were most evenings we'd play soccer down at Southerndown beach followed by a couple of pints in the Pelican. Also being in class one day when the Drill Sergeant (John Anderson RIP) came into the room and ask if anyone had experience of Office work ... I put my hand up and he said "follow me" i then had to move 5 filing cabinets, have never volunteered since.

The death of Bobby Fuller remains among the more perplexing mysteries in rock 'n' roll lore. We take a look back at the musician's brief life and career.

 

Born Oct. 22, 1942 in Baytown, Texas, Fuller grew up a big fan of another Texas musician: Buddy Holly. Fuller played in numerous bands with his younger brother Randy and even built his own primitive backyard recording studio. In 1961 they began releasing singles through New Mexico-based Yucca Records, and some of their songs charted on local radio stations in El Paso.

 

Fuller and his brother moved to Los Angeles and reformed the band. In 1964, the Bobby Fuller Four were signed by Mustang Records in a deal put together by Bob Keane, who’d also worked with Ritchie Valens and would later put out records by artists like The Surfaris and Frank Zappa.

 

The band was a bit of a throwback. While the British Invasion and Motown dominated the airwaves, the Bobby Fuller Four played what was basically 1950s style rock, inspired by the likes of Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, and the Everly Brothers. Still, the group managed to chart with “Let Her Dance” in 1966. In a bizarre promotional turn, they appeared in the movie "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini," starring Nancy Sinatra and Boris Karloff, where they lip-synched two songs by another band.

 

Their biggest hit came with “I Fought The Law.” Though Fuller is most closely associated with the song, it was actually written by Sonny Curtis and first recorded by the Crickets after Buddy Holly died (Curtis also wrote the theme for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"). Today “I Fought the Law” has become a punk rock staple, being covered by The Clash, The Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, Social Distortion, and Green Day. The version recorded by The Clash was recently included on the popular Rock Band video game.

 

But Fuller wouldn’t live long enough to reap many benefits from the song’s success.

 

On July 18, 1966, he was found dead inside his car at the age of 23. The L.A. County Coroner's report said, “Deceased was found lying face down in front seat of car—a gas can, 1/3 full, cover open—windows were all rolled up & doors shut, not locked—keys not in ignition." He had multiple bruises on his arms and shoulders and his body was soaked with gasoline. Other witnesses report that one of his fingers was broken. Fuller’s death was first ruled a suicide, but three months later, the medical examiner changed the cause of death to “accidental asphyxiation” — meaning that, somehow, Fuller had accidentally drowned himself in gasoline.

 

The investigation was botched from the start — the crime scene left unsecured, no fingerprints taken from the gasoline can found in the car. Many believed Fuller had been murdered and the perpetrator/s had fled just as they were about to torch his car to destroy the evidence. A partner of Bob Keane reputedly had mob connections, and the record company was involved in payola scams (to be fair, so was nearly everyone else in the business). There was also the matter of a large life insurance policy allegedly taken out on Bobby Fuller by this same record company investor. Another theory was that Fuller had gone to an LSD party (he’d recently started experimenting with the drug) and an accident had befallen him. Worried they’d be held responsible (and busted for drugs to boot), party-goers drove him back to his apartment and left his body in the car. There has even been speculation that Charles Manson was involved.

 

Jim Reese, guitarist for the Bobby Fuller Four, told an interviewer that four days after Bobby died, three armed men came to his apartment looking for him. The next day, Reese and drummer Dalton Powell fled to El Paso, taking along a loaded pistol just in case.

 

With scant physical evidence, no clear leads, and so much time gone by, it's doubtful we’ll ever know what really happened. We’re left to wonder what other great music Bobby Fuller might have brought into the world had he not been taken from it that July night so many decades ago.
