in 1998 this Mk2 was one of the first, if not the first, Mk2 with a VR6 swap. and super clean.

As a matter of comparison and benchmarking for future shooting adjustments, I threw my D300 into this mix to see how it fared.

Noiser than the FX brothers as expected. However, was surprised to see it hold color and contrast quite well in this test. When I took comparison shots of my wife using the D3s and D300 at ISO 2800 (indoors) earlier in the day, the D300 photo looked significantly flatter. Post note: I noticed the brown wood color was reproduced poorly in comparison. It appears that bright and vibrant colors like the red, blue, white and black are less affected at hi-ISOs but more muted colors degrade significantly.

Old cut benchmark, on a gatepost in the middle of a field off Otley Road. This isn't marked on 1893 OS map, nor is it in the Bench Marks database: www.bench-marks.org.uk/, nor in the OS bench mark locator: benchmarks.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/pls/htmldb/f?p=111:3:6049... - so this one will remain a mystery.
This site is currently being redeveloped as a business park, so the gate post may not survive for much longer.
