Two chaps climb on the climbing equipment at Trainworks.
Unfortunately I left my DSLR battery at home on this day, fortunately, I also brought my point and shoot which served for the day!

This is the first and only instance of this behaviour that I have observed. The moth is licking the honeydew exudate from the fulgorid, despite the presence of the ants which are doing the same thing. Not sure is this is something specific to this moth sp., if it's pure luck, or just a not very often described phenomenon. In any case I was happy to find and document it. Found during a night hike in kanuku mountains. For a greater selection of photos which include different angles and species ask by pm to be added to my friend's list.
Yesterday the tire flew off my minibus, I cut the head off a pit viper and I was banned from a commercial flight by associating with a narco-trafficker. Today I am bushwhacking through the jungle in the remote trail-less backwaters of Guyana, waist deep in water and praying to make it through the rest of the day alive. What will tomorrow bring? The flehmen behaviour, inhaling air and curling of the upper lip, facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ located above the roof of the mouth via a duct which exits just behind the front teeth of the animal. This activates the vomeronasal organ and enables oestrus detection.
Here the bull is testing the air to determine if his selected cow is ready for him.
In the Rut, male bison (bulls) find a female who is close to Estrus and stay by her side (tend her) until she is ready to mate. The bull will protect her from other bulls if he can until she is ready to mate. He will bellow to discourage other males, and also try to hide her from other bulls by standing between the cow and another bull. After mating, he will then leave her to find another cow. They were a million and one miles away but this is the first time I've ever seen a cat interact with a fox. They normally completely ignore each other but this kitty seemed to deliberately wake the fox up. They say a fox will almost always back down from a cat but this one didn't ! It's a particularly small fox and a big cat, most foxes are bigger than this one.

Loopy Lass spotted a pair of siskins on our garden feeders and wanted to know what the female was fluttering her wings for. I said it was bonding behaviour and she was encouraging the male to feed her. We both got a bit of video of the two of them this morning. The first bit of footage is Loopy Lass's (she can't hold the camera still when she's filming 😁). They're such pretty little birds, aren't they?

Not many people expect that spiders are caring mothers. Here one stands guard over a newly hatched nest of young spiderlings. Very interesting to watch, although I do have a suspicion that when they grow big enough, they'll eat the mother......
I'm sure my behaviour contrasts with many other peoples. I first saw the egg sack on the ceiling of my bathroom about 3 weeks ago. Been keeping an eye out for them hatching. Spiders come to no harm in my house....

This video shows a different species of Ant, shot at a different location with a different caterpillar I'd just found on Grey Dogwood blossoms.
The Ant is stroking the caterpillar, hoping it will produce a drop of sweet honeydew from its Dorsal Nectary Organ (DNO), a small pore on the caterpillar's back. You should be able to see the DNO in this video.
I shot this footage yesterday afternoon. It's just a short clip--I haven't even looked at the rest of the raw video--only this first "take". :-)
The caterpillar is merrily munching on the Dogwood flower blossoms while the Ant is trying to coax it to produce honeydew.
The background sound is totally live. You might even hear me swatting mosquitoes (they were pretty intense).

Driving into Serengeti National Park through Nabi Hill Gate, we had hardly driven for 2 kilometers when we met this pride of 7 Lions sitting out in the open in the mid-day heat next to the road.
Lions normally go into the shade during the afternoon to get away from the heat as well as the flies. This was a welcome change in their regular behaviour to give us some good poses for the picture session.
