ahhh yes, i can smell school in the air (i am one of those moms that can not wait :) )..first soccer practice tonight...
Again, because I don't have a design wall I'm tweaking my layout through the camera's lens.
This will be the center medallion of my version of Kim McLeans breathtaking quilt. www.gloriouscolor.com/userfiles/image/McLean/basket medallion 5.jpg
I'm doing it from the kit that contains most of the same Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Hopelessly lame to be using a kit but how else would I ever own anything as beautiful as hers?!
Doesn't it look ridiculous with that enormous dayglo basket with those pathetic spindly stems?
In this pic I haven't yet finished the left half of the stems. ...partly because I'm still working on that branch that's pinned down. That branch has been the bane of my existence. So far this is the third time I've stitched it down after making awful mistakes and ripping it up twice. It still has quite a stiff and angular curl but I guess it wants to be eccentric and I'm hoping the foliage and berries will overwhelm it and make that less apparent.

They've changed so much over the year. Not only in appearance, but they've gotten *really* smart too!
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and the darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said , Let there be light; and there was light.
This was the start of my first Gamera model kit --- after this I was completely hooked ---- it was just one of those things I never thought I would be able to do well, so when I finished I was really happy with it ---- I loved the painting aspect of it --- I have always been a fixer of broken things but never a builder ----- here is the finished product
This is the furnace that melts the scrap into liquid form for casting. The blasts from cold meeting hot were unbelievable. In other words it totally rocked!!!!
4/365 Friday 4 January 2013 - Had a little walk in the garden - the first time since the day after Boxing Day I've ventured outside the house. I still feel very weak and washed out but I took my camera in the hope of finding a suitable subject for picture of the day. It was heartening to see the daffodil bulbs shooting. Spring is on its way!

The Beginnings Ring was designed & handcrafted by me, using 3 lovely vintage pieces: black swirl & blue dimple buttons, topped with a diecut glass mint blossom.
The aforemetioned lovelies were secured and cemented an adjustable metal silver-plated ring base.

ADVENTURE is the topic for the 24th of May 2011.
Tried to capture the start of a new day, but it just doesn't seem quite right to me. Tried to soften this up in post to get that "just waking up" look. I dunno. Might shoot something else today and replace this.
Nothing changed much for me so far. I still had to put up with Gretel (the hopeless case). I still wished I could go back to Berlin, although the memories were begging to fade. I was sending letters grandmother and grandfather but I haven't don it in several weeks. The soldiers still came everyday into father's office (an off bounce territory). The servants still came in and cleaned and cooked. Pavel came everyday and peeled potatoes and carrots.
Father decided to make me and my sister return to our studies. A few mornings later a man named Herr Liszt came and taught us. He was particularly fond of history and never let us do played like grandmother did.
Still after many months out of Berlin there was nothing to explore. I have been looking out of my window at the tall fence. I went outside looking up at my own bedroom window. You could probably jump down from the window it wasn't that high. I went looking around and saw a plaque, it said "presented on the occasion of the opening of out with camp, June nineteen forty". I was not allowed to walk in the direction of the plaque but I tried not to think of the countless times that my parents had told I wasn't allowed to go here. Now I was off to my journey.
I had pH strips laying around and I thought it would be fun to incorporate them into my experiment.
There were two parts to my water experiment. First, I wanted to test pH levels of water from 12 different water sources in my area as well as some of my own home-made concoctions. Then I decided I wanted to take out two samples (the lowest pH water & the highest pH water) and see how they each interacted with sand.
The sand is from the Presidio sand dunes & my hypothesis is that they would behave differently with the sand, although I didn't know how.
The skies were clear [except for the smoke from aircraft displaying] and the weather was gorgeous. All you could want was to see these guys doing their stuff. An excellent display once again, but the only time I saw it in 2016. Well worth the wait!
