A group of maple trees caught my eye in the late afternoon sun. The patterns, tones, and edges create a warm attractive glow that seem far too beautiful to be real.
Two days after an atmospheric river dumped rain and flooded Matsqui Prairie in Abbotsford, BC., Canada, tree trunks appear to push out of the flood, and leaves caught in branches create designs and colours. This serene beauty makes both residents and visitors take a sober second look and pause to reflect on what took place. Nature has spoken.

Dawn in the eastern sky is a wonderful sight from McKee Peek in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Landmark mountains such as Mt. Cheam, Lady Peak and Mt. Baker shape the horizon as a smoky haze fills the Fraser Valley below. An atmospheric river flooded this region one year ago. The flood halted all commerce and traffic in and out of the southern coastal region of British Columbia, including the city of Vancouver. The valley is still recovering.
Fierce winds blow across Mt. Baker creating a brilliant halo at sunrise. The foothills, still in shadow, emerge as dark blue hues. Across the middle of the mountain sun rays create a line of separation between light and shadow. Photo is taken from my balcony.
Just could not get enough of these shots of the red setting sun as it travelled across the sky between the clouds. While it is beautiful to see, it tells you something about how much pollution is in the air all around.
Even though the owls were too far away, the sunset at the end of the day was not to be missed. Brunswick Point, Ladner
Ten to fifteen years ago people noticed the Anna’s Hummingbirds staying here, above the 49th parallel, year-round. All the other hummingbird species head south for winter. Although the Pacific Northwest coastal winters are milder than continental winters this new development surprised us. On Christmas Day, these little creatures showed us how tough they really are. It is currently -20C (windchill) with wind gusts to 70 km/h. The Anna’s visit our feeders in daylight hours and at night go into torpor, a state in which they lower their metabolism and heart rate to save energy. This photo is taken from the comfort and warmth of my living room. The beauty, toughness and resilience of these birds is truly astounding.

Bridge Lake, BC

The small community of Bridge Lake, located in the Interlakes district of the Southern Cariboo, was originally situated on the historic Fur Brigade Trail. The Fur Brigade Trail dates back to the early pioneer days of fur trading and was a combination of waterways and overland trails, used to connect trading posts. After the construction of the Cariboo Wagon Road during the 1860s the Fur Brigade Trail became redundant.
The beautiful Interlakes area is aptly named the “Fishing Highway”, as anglers can access over 300 lakes, making this one of the best fishing spots in British Columbia.

The Aug long weekend is now over and it is time to get back to work for everyone in one way or another.
A great time was had with friends, lots of laughs and memories shared with warm 'kinda' sunny days.
We were driving home on the Sea to Sky Highway and stopped at Porteau Cove. There is this long pier, but just where I was standing on it to take this shot, there is a sign that says "Do not Enter", but obviously this couple climbed over the railing and went to the end to get the best view. But for me, they added to the image I wanted to get.
A magical place.
[Though this Fairy Tree looks small, the kayakers who passed by sat only as tall as the base that the tree is growing from.]
The Clearwater River is the largest tributary of the North Thompson River, joining it at the community of Clearwater, British Columbia. The Clearwater rises from glaciers in the Cariboo Mountains and flows in a mostly southerly direction for 201 km (125 mi) to the North Thompson. Its entire course, except the last 5 km (3 mi), is within Wells Gray Provincial Park. Its confluence with the North Thompson is protected by North Thompson River Provincial Park.
