A walk with friends and family on my birthday

There have been about 6 or 7 Sandhill Cranes visiting the Reifel Bird Sanctuary over past 6 weeks. Here 3 swoop in suprising myself and some others on the nearby trail. About the Sandhill's- Adults are gray overall; during breeding, the plumage is usually much worn and stained, particularly in the migratory populations, and looks nearly ochre. They have a red forehead, white cheeks and a long dark pointed bill. They have long dark legs which trail behind in flight and a long neck that is kept straight in flight. Immature birds have reddish brown upperparts and gray underparts. The sexes look alike. Size varies among the different subspecies. This crane frequently gives a loud trumpeting call that suggests a French-style "r" rolled in the throat.

Shot taken at a marina/resort near Port Renfrew, British Columbia. Nothing special about the dock, but like the stillness of the waters and cloud reflection.

Benvenuto, Italian for 'welcome', is the name the Butcharts used for their original estate, now a National Historic Site of Canada, and still privately owned by family descendants. The Butchart Gardens offers 22ha (55 acres) of wonderful floral display located in Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island. The family's commitment to horticulture and hospitality continues to this day.

Archive Shot 2022 Oct 02

One of my favourite things about going back to my archives is feeling the moments all over again. We followed this guy for awhile as he swam among the logs. I was ready that moment he stuck his head up. It was a bit difficult to get a shot with the harsh mid-day light, but there he was giving us a stare down.

Thanks for following my work. I’m on FB, IG, Flickr, Twitter, and Vero. Website in bio.

One of my favorite songs and dedicate this to "Louis Armstrong", my all time favorite singer.

I see trees of green,

red roses too.

I see them bloom,

for me and you.

And I think to myself,

what a wonderful world.

The beautiful waterfalls on Vancouver Island running high following a massive rainstorm. This was a fun chance to use the in-body image stabilization for a handheld shot.

These photographers (from Qualicum Beach including my buddy Wayne Duke) may be getting their shots in focus, but it is this pup that steals the show! For those of you wondering, the horizon in straight, that boat is rocking with the water. That constant boat movement makes it pretty interesting to get clear shots. I have enjoyed documenting the people who head out on the waters to view and photograph Beautiful British Columbia’s wonders.

This in my opinion is Beautiful B.C. at it's best, west coast of Vancouver Island style. This shot was taken near Sooke, British Columbia, early in the morning; there absolute silence and fog was just lifting for the day.

I CAN SEE FOUR TURTLES WITH RED ON THEIR CHEEKS WHICH MEANS THEY ARE RED EARED SLIDERS. THE ENDANANGERD SPECIES DOES NOT HAVE RED ON IT'S HEAD BUT INSTEAD ON THEIR BELLY. THE LARGE ROUNDED SHELLS ARE TURTLES THAT PEOPLE HAVE INTRODUCED BUT THERE IS ONE THAT IS QUITE FLAT...THE 2ND ONE ON THE RIGHT OF THE LOG. WESTERN PAINTED TURTLE.
