Beating a hasty retreat! After dropping out of the sky right in front of the hide, the star appearance was, alas, short lived - a Winter visitor to Rutland Water (UK) (6329)

As many of you know, this is the time of year when I have already posted numerous snow photos because I happen to live in an area with the highest probability of snow this time of year in the US (except Alaska). In fact, the historical likelihood of a white Christmas here is about 98%. Looking back through my archives, I have never personally recorded snowlessness at this time of year.
We've actually only had one measurable snowfall which has vanished with 24 hour temperatures consistently and unusually in a very narrow range of 35-42F/2-4C. Last night it rained. This of course has also caused any incipient ice on the lake to vanish. It has also been consistently grey and the sun has been absent for some time, the cloud cover in the winter, of course, holding the warmth.
While the local merchants are unhappy as winter sports activity will be significantly delayed, I can't say that I mind (especially after the unending and severe winter of 2013-2014) as it provides easier access through the woods in much more comfortable garb. This image accurately conveys the scene, the subjects, as are we all, seemingly waiting and wondering what's going on.

Calum Scott, Leona Lewis - You Are The Reason (Duet Version)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByfFurjQDb0
There goes my heart beating
'Cause you are the reason
I'm losing my sleep
Please come back now
There goes my mind racing
And you are the reason
That I'm still breathing
I'm hopeless now
I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason
There goes my hand shaking
And you are the reason
My heart keeps bleeding
I need you now
If I could turn back the clock
I'd make sure the light defeated the dark
I'd spend every hour, of every day
Keeping you safe
And I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason, oh
In The Ten years I have been photographing and going to Wakodahatcheee I never saw an white ibis with nesting material. I have seen just about every other species here in Florida but not the white ibis. I was thrilled to see and capture this.
Wishing you awesome, beautiful and blessed day !!!!
Albeit short lived a storm rolled in from nowhere at the Weekend and my garden took a pounding.
The rain was mostly light at first but then without warning it literally went three gears up and started coming down in bullet form. So I took down the SS from 1/500 to 1/200 and used the flash to capture it, one of the things that was on my side was the fact the rain was so heavy and persistent that it was constantly impacting off my flowers so a degree where I could get this moment caught convincingly enough.
The raindrops were pretty much exploding on impact and I was lucky to hit the button just as this one did just that. I really love nature, so much diversity!
Here's to another week ahead and hope you're all well, so as always, thank you! :)

🎶 MELODY GARDOT - BABY I’M A FOOL
How was I to know that this was always only just a little game to you
All the time I felt you gave your heart I thought that I would do the same for you,
Tell the truth I think I should have seen it coming from a mile away,
When the words you say are,
Baby I'm a fool who thinks it's cool to fall in love
If I gave a thought to fascination I would know it wasn't right to care,
Logic doesn't seem to mind that I am fascinated by the love affair,
Still my heart would benefit from a little tenderness from time to time, but never mind,
Cause baby I'm a fool who thinks it's cool to fall in love
Baby I should hold on just a moment and be sure it's not for vanity,
Look me in the eye and tell me love is never based upon insanity,
Even when my heart is beating hurry up the moments fleeting,
Kiss me now,
Don't ask me home
Cause baby I'm a fool who thinks it's cool to fall,
Baby I'm a fool who thinks it's cool to fall,
And I would never tell if you became a fool and fell in love.
A weather-beaten facade,I suppose. It was this way on the entire building, but this side has the fire escape stairs.
turn your magic on, to me she'd say
everything you want's a dream away
we are legends, every day
that's what she told him
I feel my heart beating
I feel my heart beneath my skin
I feel my heart beating
oh, you make me feel
like I'm alive again
alive again
oh, you make me feel
like I'm alive again
woo hoo (woo hoo)
said I can't go on, not in this way
I'm a dream, I die by light of day
gonna hold up half the sky and say
only I own me

Wearing The Inside Out by Pink Floyd (Live Version)
Won't hear a sound
From my mouth
I've spent too long
On the inside out
My skin is cold
To the human touch
This bleeding heart's
Not beating much
I murmured a vow of silence and now
I don't even hear when I think aloud
Extinguished by light I turn on the night
Wear its darkness with an empty smile
I'm creeping back to life
My nervous system all away
I'm wearing the inside out
red blood cells brought oxygen into the heart of the city...

The mercury is rising and the grass isn't faring too well! Luckily a few daisies are thriving in the heat though.
I took this photo of my mate a couple of days ago at sunrise on some of my local grouse moors in the Peak District. He's less skittish than many other grouse and he was in his usual territory so I'm very sure it was him. He was a bit unsure of me at first but after a while he actually flew and landed just a few feet away as if to say 'Hi' - either that or he was telling me to get lost out of his patch!
Anyway, after four months of the shooting season, which ends next week (10th) it was good to see that he's still around as apparently, some 500,000 Red Grouse are shot each season.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.
A young fellow managed to squeeze under his umbrella to avoid the rain, nice when you're young enough and flexible enough to do that.
...Never to be wrong
Never to make promises that break
It's like singing in the wind
Or writing on the surface of a lake...
Him and her
like whispers that only the night can hear
hands finding hands,
hearts learning a rhythm they didn’t know they needed
where the world fades, they begin
With heavy jams throughout the day in the city of Bangkok, something the fastest way to beat the jams is to simply get out and walk on the side pavements.
A motor boat carrying three persons and a small paddle boat manned by a fisherman move fast towards a village seashore as the sun sets in the horizon.

These guys were lucky to get the crop off when they did. The area saw golf ball sized hailed shortly after this photo was taken.
During the festive season in Ghent, Belgium, at the Christmas market, I came across this very lively brass band, playing jazz classics made in the USA to liven up the tightly packed rows of chalets. It didn't take much to get me going!

this is my view...every day...this is the work of a watchmaker...fine work every day...you need good eyes;)
His wings were beating all the time whilst taking the pollen
Thanks to Jeff Summerlin for the identification. An interesting little insect, I'd never heard of, I really thought it was another bee!
A bit of a speculative shot this one. We were out on a long dog walk a long way from anywhere when down came the rain, yes we had boots on and underneath my coat I had my camera safely tucked away. We got a good soaking but as the rain eased I took this shot not really expecting very much ( I didn`t have my tripod or filters ) with me. After a little play in PS I came up with this, I love the line of trees here .The rain brought this song to mind Eric Clapton , The sky is crying www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN09OfzI_9o

When I took this shot into the sun I thought it wouldnt turn out at all and was expecting to delete it, but was somewhat suprised with how it turne dout, I know its nothing special, but for some reason I like it even though I am not sure why LOL
here sa quote perhaps relevant to this shot and to the disaster in the Gulf
“I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun's energy... If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago.”
Sir George Porter
The Lorikeets are now regular visitors. They returned after our lunch to see what we might have for them.
Both parties, the birds and myself, seemed more emboldened today to get a bit closer, so that images are somewhat better than yesterday. Despite my appreciation of birds, I actually have a phobia of them beating their wings and flying around too close to me.
Really, really beautiful birds.
