Looking every inch a 'Beast of Burden', careworn (a nicer way to say 'looking totally knackered') DB workhorse 66169 heads 6A83 13:26 Avonmouth to Theale as the consist approaches Hawkeridge junction. The rag-tag collection of wagons looking a pretty sorry bunch too - not that I mind, it seems to add something to the image.
The fourteenth Stones album, 'Some Girls' yielded this track as it's second single (after 'Miss You'). Some Girls was the third studio album produced by "The Glimmer Twins" - a pseudonym invented and adopted by Jagger and Richards.
Having a sort out of an old computer and doing some backups, came across this February 2009 scene of this Neoplan N4016. These were a very rare beast indeed in the UK and were only ordered new for operation with MTL in Merseyside and understood to be some of first of the low floor buses to operate in the UK. The N4016 models operated on Merseytravel SMART services, 18/18A Liverpool and Croxteth Park and lasted well into Arriva days when replaced by the mass influx of new VDL SB200, Wright Pulsars at the time in 2009.
The type were mainly scrapped after operation with Arriva Merseyside but some examples were processed for resale and three examples operated with Tanat Valley with an additional one for spares.
In this snowy early February 2009 view, I recall 259 had just entered service and operated on the 449 Oswestry to Ellesmere service that day, the view is captured at the bus stop next to Lakelands. I happened to be around that day having worked the previous evening for my employer fixing a server fault at a hosting facility, the rest day ended up having a few photos of this Neoplan and a round trip sampled later in the day on the 449.
The Neoplans ended up gaining black bumpers and brightech destination displays, lasting a number of years at Tanat Valley. They were evitability withdrawn after a few years of operation as presumably parts were hard to come by and contract changes were resulting in a fleet update.
This is My 2003 Xjr1300, 126bhp and 86lbft. It's been fitted with a healtech quickshifter and their traction control unit. The traction control also gives launch control and a pit lane limiter.
This thing is a beast of a thing, good old fashioned air cooled power.

I mucked around with ps for too long today trying to make this look at home only to fail dismally.
One of these killed a character of mine this year :(
For the Battle Beasts group July challenge: WATER OX and FIRE LARK.
Ox based on a musk ox. The lark's head gave me heaps of trouble; what you see is version #29! Everything I tried looked like an ostrich, camel, duck, goose-anything but a simple lark. He nearly got pimped with huge flame wings, inspired as a was by Uspez's Luminous Lark.
So get in on the fun whydon'tcha?!
