I used a great sketch from the So Sketchy! Blog
sosketchy.blogspot.com/2008/12/december-sketch-square-car...
with Hero Arts Collage Stamps and Basic Grey Boxer papers to create a 4 1/2" square gift set of cards.
I love how die cutting the college with the Nestabilities Label 1 die cuts gives it a whole different look. The circles are punched from coordinating papers and dotted in the middle with sparkle pen.

Last-minute entry for the Sketch Saturday challenge blog! The colours are a bit off since it was almost midnight when I photographed this.
I used papers from the Basic Grey Kioshi paperpad and my new Greeting Farm stamp Dahlia. The sentiment is from Scrappy Cat. This card is my first attempt at sponging and I need a little more practice, but I think it looks nice :-) Blogged here.
Re-uploaded because this picture was taken in daylight.

Here's a card for the Hero Challenge this week. I've always been a scrapbooker and I've loved to make cards. I'm learning that the two don't have to be two different mediums and it's okay to mix them with eachother. I love using patterned papers with my stamps to create fun cards and creations.

I am so lucky to have this set of pictures taken of my grandparents from their young adult years. On this particular occassion they had taken a fun weekend get-a-way with friends of theirs, Elwood and Arla Hassinger. It had not been foretold at that time, but years later, the Hassingers became family. My grandparents had my dad, who in later years, married my mom, who was a niece of the Hassingers. Perhaps this is why these photos appeal to me so much! I get a glimpse into the past of two sides of our family. Looking at these pictures brings a sense of humbleness about them. Here I see them in a different light... relaxed and jovial, living in the moment. This was them... before they were my grandparents!
Big Picture Classes (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/) is sponsoring the Big Idea Festival class, and one of the "words to live by" that Tami Morrison discusses is "wonder".
The word really struck me, because when I was thinking about what to do with the prompt, I thought of this photo of my son; I took the pic while we were on vacation in 2009. I decided I'd better make a full-size layout about it, because I just really love this photo and the feelings it evokes.
The page uses a "starting point" sketch from shimelle.com: www.shimelle.com/paper/1159/scrapbooking-starting-point-c...
I used some old Little Yellow Bicycle papers, plus some random items from my stash - buttons, a flower, brad, sheer ribbon.
If you care to read it, here's the journaling:
Devil’s Churn on the Oregon Coast was a sight to behold: the tides stirring the water, the powerful waves crashing against the rocky bluffs. It was threatening, but also amazing…a true natural wonder.
I wanted to hold you back, because one little slip, and you could have fallen, hurt yourself, or gotten completely wet...but I knew I couldn’t restrain you. Your curiosity and sense of adventure would win out against my worries.
I realize that this is the way it’ll be for your life, too. No matter what I say or do, you and your sister will explore, discover, and find your own ways, independent of your dad and me. I can only wonder what the future holds for you two, and I hope I’m around a long time so I can see it. Sure we have our rough spots, but on an almost-daily basis, I now marvel at the bright, hard-working, amazing young people you’re turning out to be. To me, that is a true natural wonder, indeed.
TFL,
Cynthia
