My mother said to me,
"When one sees the tree in leaf one thinks
the beauty of the tree is in its leaves,
and then one sees the bare tree."

I just love trees! ..I'm amazed how they keep standing so proudly with their arms outreached through all of the seasons.
Have a nice day!

Flock of birds
Hovering above
Just a flock of birds
That's how you think of love
And I always look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn
Cause they fly always
Sometimes they arrive
Sometimes they are gone
Fly on
Flock of birds
Hovering above
Into smoke I'm turned and rise, following them up
Still I always look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn
Cause they fly away
One minute they arrive
Next you know they're gone
Fly on
Fly on, ride through
Maybe one day I'll fly next to you
Fly on, ride through
Maybe one day I can fly with you
Fly on

This is the NW aspect of the monastery of Saints Theodore, a lesser-known nunnery, located 5 miles (8 km) away from the Meteora rock formations' complex, Greece. The high dynamic range shot was taken on a windy, chilly and bright day in February.
The abbey was founded in the mid 14th century AD. It was built on a 590 ft (180 m) high rock formation.

There was something of the 'still life' or 'stage setting' in this scene. Maybe it was the bare trees standing like sculptures in their little square bricked plots; the green trash can echoing the shutters; that cheerful ladder propped along the wall; the pipe painted green; and that delightful little red bench tucked in to complete the picture. A harmony in grey, with yellow, red, and green. Art of everyday life, on this little island, under a soft grey sky. And not a person in sight. Everything was ready for the theater to begin.

Dear Lord,
Every single evening
As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:
God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm
And safe from harm
For they're so close to me.
And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don't mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.
Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.
You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends.
I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.
By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew..
Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That's filled with so much love.
Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail inbox
And each person who hits 'send'.
When you update your Heavenly list
On your own Great CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer

Banks County (GA) Copyright 2017 D. Nelson
We were supposed to get 4 inches of snow that day, but Athens, GA only got a dusting, after hours of a very cold rain. North Georgia got a little more, but this was all that was left in Banks County at 3 p.m. in the afternoon, even though it was a very, very cold day with temperatures around freezing.
However, I find that Georgia does not necessarily need snow to project a wintry mood. Indeed, this says Georgia winter much more accurately: bare trees and subdued weeds that will spring back to life in early March. Now's a good time to get a look at whatever is buried in the vegetation for most of the year.
So all is well.

Blue Ridge Parkway
Milepost 176.2, Elevation 2,855 feet
Floyd County, Virginia
For our late April trip to the mountains of North Carolina, Ruth Ann and I avoided the interstates; the round trip included about 550 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we made short stops at Mabry Mill on each leg of the journey. Although it was too early for the rhododendrons at this location, there were some spring blossoms among the mostly-bare trees, signaling the change of seasons. Unfortunately, most things along the Parkway do not open until May 1, including restrooms.
Located about a mile north of US 58 at Meadows of Dan, the mill was built in stages by Ed Mabry (1867-1936), starting in 1903; it served as sawmill, grist mill, and blacksmith shop. After the Parkway was built in the 1930s, National Park Service restored the sawmill and grist mill, which still operates; its products are sold on premises. Mabry mill is one of the most popular attractions on the 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway and is much-photographed. What Virginia county the mill is in seems rather unclear; the GPS coordinates on the photo place it in Floyd County (see map), and the DeLorme Virginia Atlas and Gazeteer also places it in Floyd, but some sources say it is in Patrick; in truth, it is very close to the county line, so I've included tags for both counties.

Well, I HAD TO leave the comfort of my home today to refill the refrigerator and do laundry and then de-germ my place after that nasty cold. It was overcast but in a way really beautiful as the sun succeeded in breaking through just barely enough to cast a warm glow on things.
