Balanced Rock Falls, a waterfall which has carved its way below a seemingly precariously placed boulder. The falls are located within the boundaries of the Buffalo National River, in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas.
For Macro Mondays theme "Balance". This is a chunk of broccoli about 1" across, and represents one element of a balanced diet, which must include lots of veggies.

96 minutes at the balanced rock in Arches National Park. A night with no wind and pleasant temperatures. Right after the astronomical twilight I started taking shots for this star trail. The core of the Milky way was still below the horizon so I had to wait until past 2 am to take the picture I uploaded about two weeks ago.
I used an ISO and aperture combination to avoid blowing out the stars and capture some of their colors. The color of a star indicates its temperature. Blue-white stars are much hotter than the Sun, whereas red stars are cooler.
I edited the image to enhance the vibrancy and give to the star trails the comet look with tapered ends.

Welcome to to the beach, a haven for dog walkers and coffee drinkers. A special congratulations on picking up your dog mess, only to lob it into the dunes and leave it in a bag for the next hundred years. Shame on you........

There are several named "Balanced Rock" areas in the country, including Garden of the Gods and Arches National Park. This one happens to be in Glen Canyon. The official named Balanced Rock is in the center. I wonder how the ones to the left and right feel about not getting the nod. Apparently, they were so upset that they got stoned. Of course what new year doesn't start out with the resolution to eat better. I am not going on any trendy eating diets, just balancing everything, moderation in all things.

Located in Arches NP and a very popular location for shooting the Milkyway. On this night the traffic was low. Lighting provided by Mother Nature after the Sun went down in very low light.
Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features in the park, stands a staggering 128 feet (39m) tall. While this formation may appear to be an epic balancing act, it’s actually not balanced at all. The slick rock boulder of Entrada Sandstone sits attached to its eroding pedestal of Dewey Bridge mudstone. The exposure of these two rock strata layers are ideal for the formation of arches and balanced rocks.

nice to walk on it, we just have to find it
May 7, pitch black night at 4 am with 18.5% waning crescent to show up in about 2.5 hours. No light painting is allowed in Arches National park so I enjoyed the beauty of the Balanced Rock as presented by mother nature against the one and only Way. I was amused to see that the core was starting just above the light supplied by taxpayers in Moab. A few clouds were keeping me company, shooting stars just passing by in a hurry to catch the burn.
Nice and warm, plenty of time for a pano but also for admiring the core of the Milky Way

The is certainly the feeling I had hiking the Toadstool Hoodoos in Kanab Utah. This other worldly area with those big rocks balanced on top of the hoodoos. Mother Nature does some amazing things!
As much as I love summer, autumn's textures and colours are a treat....

I'm not an expert and I can't identify this bird.
It seems to me quite young: I hope he would like to live in my area, so I can catch him a lot of times with my camera
We went to San Francisco, first for sunset near the Golden Gate bridge, then for the moonrise. Our first stop was the Sutro Heights park at Sea Cliff. The sun was low, casting nice shadows.
I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
