Day 158: Tuesday, June 7, 2011: Chinese pistache, backlit
Just a frond of a tree in our backyard, lit from behind by the setting sun on a day that was SUPPOSED to be sunny and nice, but ended up being cloudy, after a couple of hours of promising sunshine in the morning, right up until about fifteen minutes before sunset.
I may have to put myself on a backlit-leaves moratorium for the time being. I can't quite bring myself to ban contre-jour *altogether*, though. Who could?
hey guys! my photo got published in backlight magazine along with a bunch of other photographers.
you can buy your own copy or just browse through it here

A Sunday project this week that was fun, taking pictures of my beautiful wife using a couple of lights between her and the window as well as the natural sunlight reflecting off the sun to produce a back lit series of pictures. Last weekend, the snow was still just above the window out back here, because 2 weeks ago we had shoveled the roof, and there was so much snow that we ended up just moving the snow off the roof, the snow on the ground was nearly the same height.
I was playing with wireless flash photography, that's my 430EX going off in the background.
the set up:
Camera on tripod with 580EX in master mode (master flash off)
430EX in the background on a stand set to +2
desk lamp for spot light effect on the face.
shot with Canon 50mm 1.8
Its a holiday and I am in our front yard doing some backlighting leaves using the sun. And here are the few I got from my mini photoshoot.
This leaf has a burned part and I look it interesting than plain yellow green.
