I know this picture is not paticulary good and a bit out of focus but the sun blinded my eye several times when i took the picture so i think you needed to see it.

Love her. Love the light♥ I love this photo of my little girl and I especially love the glorious golden light spilling out around her! I took this photo just before sunset to achieve the lovely backlighting. As it turns out www.rocktheshotforum.com is having a contest for the best photos using backlighting...fingers crossed:)

The object that i used is my necklace. There are 3 different shapes, a square , a triangle and a circle. Me and my classmate shot this picture in front of the big windows on the 3rd floor.

The lighting technique that we used was backlighting. We achieved this by holding the necklace up in front of the window to get the light.

If i could of done anything differently I would of used more contrast and color to highlight the lighting.

Cop-out image for today, as I had little extra time to work on the photo project. Simple goal of having an above head light from behind me and dark shadows across my face. I only took a couple of photos and abandoned one that had all of the elements I intended because it was a little too melodramatic. Instead, I stuck to one of the setup images and did a few, simple modifications.

It’s basic and at least accomplishes the goal of getting an image out for the day.

{Special Weekend Shot}

So Sorry Im late. I never been so late to post the {Special Weekend Shot}!

I've been at a wedding, and where I was, there was no internet.

Anyway, this is my little sister. She has been asking me over and over if she can be my model. Finally at the sunset, I accepted. Not that I don't want to (she is awesome!) but I have a lot of shots of her on the stream.

Other good news! I was in the paper yesterday!

This is the translation:

" His accent almost unnoticeable, a big smile, Nathan Kellum couldn't be happier. Passionate about photography, this young American just had an exhibit at the Franco-American institute. Born in Oregon, USA, this young man came to France with his family when he was only 20 months old. Its at Malifeu middle school that his passion for photography started. (We had to do a yearbook, like in the States, where we signed at the end of the year). Nathan started quickly to shoot everywhere he went. Little by little the young man perfects his techniques. (I like portraits, black and white and long exposures). He first exposes 6 shots at the institute's library, then he institute offer him the gallery; 28 pictures for 2 weeks. (It was a dream). And its a success for the young man who sold 15 shots and is starting a new project due to come out in october. Now in a arts program at high school St genevieve, he hopes to live on his photography. Portraits or landscapes, Nathan hasn't really chosen. (All I know is that I prefer working with natural light than in a studio.) And the new art gallery at the Malifeu middle school just asked him to expose his shots next week."

Have it in Movie Size!

Have a great day!

Nathan

Taken at an Arabella Models sponsored shoot. This shoot was at the Drury Inn & Suites in Phoenix.

Model: Delaney.

The main light was three Canon 550EX Speedlites fired into a shoot-through umbrella. They were each set to 1/4 power and triggered with Pocket Wizards. I don't recall the light setting of the backlight, which was an Alien Bees B1600 fired into a silver umbrella and triggered with a Pocket Wizard.

I converted to black-and-white using a Topaz BW Effects Stylized Collection Dynamic I Grunge layer.
