Today is my dad’s birthday. He’s a hard-working, successful entrepreneur and huge inspiration to me. He’s been driving backhoes since way back.
Ever since my sisters and I were little, we’d make cards for all occasions. I’ve opted to continue the tradition, plus I’m yet to see a Hallmark card with a backhoe on it that is intended for an adult.

Same backhoe from other photo, just a different angle. I know it's strange but it's presence was just so overbearing and provided a nice contrast to the surroundings.
Not what I planned on shooting when I headed out this evening but the sunset wasn't as hoped so we made do with what we could find.
If anyone can enlighten me as to the real meaning of this comic, I would honestly like to know. What on earth is that circle with an arrow underneath it? Here's what I see:

In an attempt to prevent large ice jams, they have backhoes out on the floodway breaking up large chunks of ice.
Decades ago, somebody buried this stream. It is flooding the property lower down, so J is excavating the old stream bed. The chickens love it, the land is drying and it is lovely to see.
They were working on the wetlands area at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve when I was out this summer.. This work will keep a little more water in the ponds for the water fowl in the summer when the Tualatin river isn't so high...The housing across the way is a nice place to go to get sunsets...
