Used Kubota BX25 Tractor with FEL & Backhoe - www.machines4u.com.au/browse/Farm-Machinery/Tractors-88/
A hydraulic excavator moves slabs of rock that the engineers dug up after moving about 12 inches of soil. Once the 19th Engineers hit a bed of rock, they used “rippers” on the front of the dozers to break up the rock so the HYEX could remove it. The task became more time consuming because they had to dig up the rock before they could move the soil to form the defensive positions.
This backhoe was moving around the beach digging trenches to show us why Myrtle Beach decided to build that big pipe. As I said, the drainage project is meant to replace 11 storm drain pipes that currently empty onto the beach. These pipes have been here for decades -- Robin remembers playing in the outflow from them when her parents brought her to Myrtle Beach as a child -- but they haven't always drained the way they should. The nor-easter that swept through just ahead of us proved the point by piling a bunch of sand in front of them and clogging everything up, and now the guy in the backhoe had to come through and dig them back open. They probably have to do this all the time. Once they finish their big drain project, they'll be able to sell the backhoe, and that guy will be out of a job.
