An update to one of my favourite childhood sets, the 6662 backhoe. The set is a great classic town vehicle, but with the newer larger scale vehicles, I felt it was in need of an update.

Here I am playing with a rented back-hoe, working on our waterfall project in the backyard.
The summer project that never ends! I have been working on this since May! There is an upper falls, lower falls, short stream, and a cascade; all ending up in a pond at the bottom.
We are hoping that the waterfall will be finished before the temperatures drop below freezing. My biggest problem right now is the wimpy amount of water flow; in spite of the fact I have two pumps rated for about 3000 gph each at this head height. It looks like I will need another pump rated at maybe 20,000 gph to get the flow I want!

On March 6, 2006, I walked by a grandmother and grandson who were watching the construction of the Hoover Business Building at Elizabethtown College. I was touched by the boy's love for construction tools and asked to take his photo. His grandmother assented.
When this boy goes to college, I will probably have been teaching for quite a while. Will I be his professor one day?
Not sure who's in this picture. Dad says it has to be him, as he would let no one else on his backhoe. This was a 580 CK (Construcion KIng)
A backhoe moves rubble while drilling for tiebacks and breaking up larger pieces of ruble continues. (Photo of Mansueto Library construction by Cheryl Rusnak)
Tucson's old YMCA building, long transformed into a space for artists and entertainment, has been brought down to make room for an apartment building.
A photo of the rubble framed by the backhoe that pulled the house down. Most of the debris has already been carted away, and construction of the new house can begin soon.
The Amphibious Excavator is a highly unique machine designed to work in areas that are inaccessible to conventional digging equipment. Ideal for use in canals, along shorelines, and in wetland areas, the Amphibious Excavator readily tackles a variety of challenging applications. Working primarily from the water, it has a 22’ reach and can rotate 360 degrees infinitely.
