The hoses are a mess. I wanted some spiral wrap and this is what I got. Will need to remove some of it as I can't rotate all the way with that monster in place. Going to rotate boom cylinder and redo some of the hoses a little.

Taken on Galveston Bay. The water under the barge is probably a fathom or less so the backhoe is pulling himself along by grabbing the bottom. I suppose this is what maritime propulsion would look like if it had been invented by a civil engineer or a botanist. Fortunately we had several good engineers with a grounding in physics working on the propulsion problem.

The superiority of screw against paddles was taken up by navies. Trials with Smith's SS Archimedes, the first steam driven screw, led to the famous tug-of-war competition in 1845 between the screw-driven HMS Rattler and the paddle steamer HMS Alecto; the former pulling the latter backward at 2.5 knots (4.6 km/h).
I was walking when I saw this backhoe with no one manning it. I thought it would be nice to have one picture of it. It was really foggy and cloudy that I thought would not have a decent shot. I thought it would be a nice practice material for improving my darktable skills.
