While walking around the Summer Palace in the snow, I was trying to find ways to capture the snowflakes in the air. With the sky so bright, I needed to find backdrops for the snow to be seen. Looking back, I wish I had used a faster shutter speed in some spots where the wind turned the snowflakes into blurs. However, by the time we got to this bridge, the snow was mostly just falling and not blowing all over the place. I love finding these detailed spots with layers of elements that grab my attention. I ended up doing a few different focus points here and this was my favorite. Though, I immediately wanted to include some of the lake when it gave a little bit of blue tint at the bottom of the frame. Oh well, next time/edit?
Waikiki is most famous for its beaches and every room is just two or three blocks away from the sea. With Leahi (Diamond Head) as your backdrop, the calm waters of Waikiki are perfect for a surfing lesson. In fact, legendary Hawaiian waterman Duke Kahanamoku grew up surfing the waves of Waikiki. This Olympic gold medallist in swimming actually taught visitors how to surf at the turn of the century and was later known as “The father of modern surfing”. Today, the Waikiki Beach Boys perpetuate Duke’s legacy by teaching visitors how to surf and canoe and the Duke Kahanamoku Statue has become an iconic symbol of Waikiki.
The church organ in front of the big rose window inside Strasbourg's Cathédrale Notre-Dame, which was the highest building known to mankind until 1874.
For Christmas Dinner yesterday we only had our one son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter as he has never missed having Christmas at home except during Covid lockdown.
Our oldest daughter suggested a few months back that perhaps our oldest son should host a potluck Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day with mom (me) bringing turkey, ham and stuffing while others brought veg, munchies, deserts etc. as he was "in the middle" for driving purposes. Our oldest son was happy to do so as it would mean that they did not have to pile all the kids in the car to bring up to our place.
He had a "backdrop" that he purchased to hang as a decoration as it were and of course we all had to pose in front of it. I set the camera on the 10 second timer on their dishwasher (I did not bring my tripod) and we took a few shots.
We were missing our one daughter, son-in-law and a few grandchildren but still it was a fun day of getting together. It's not a tack sharp or even well thought out pose of the group but that's okay. It's a family photo to remember the fun time we had.
This week will be a bit hectic for us so hopefully I will get to see all of your images as quick as I can. In the meantime, I will thank you now in advance for having a peak at my image here.

I splashed out rather extravagantly on those super-gorgeous 'Louise' earrings from Heth that I posted a few photos ago, and you know how it is, accidentally bought a lovely dress to go with them. Feeling suitable spruced up with pageantry dreams sparkling in my eyes, I took myself along to Backdrop Cove for a photoshoot. It's a very lovely sim.

Walker railcar RM22 negotiates the speed restriction near the Donovans Road overbridge between Healesville and the tunnel, as storm clouds gather over the Yarra Ranges in the distance.
These charming little railcars were introduced in 1948 and outlasted their original intended lifespan of ten years, with this particular example being withdrawn from revenue service in 1980.
