Gamma correction used to bring it from very dark to somewhat visible. Amazing crystalline patterns.

The only kind of "selfie" I don't hate posting...with a camera in front of my face.

Ultra upclose on this ant on a lawn chair. Gotta love the eyes.

Shiny fly. So small. So quick. So skittish. Then a breeze moves the leaves and focus is lost.

The small pattern in the middle caught my eye.

This morning I was out checking my bird feeder and spotted this Black Crowned Night Heron intently looking into the muddy water for something to eat. It still wasn't full daylight resulting in some high ISO noise. As always, Thank You for visiting. Your comments, faves and invitations are always welcome.

don't scratch- you'll only make it worse!!

Looks like the roof has blown away, as well? It's not their lucky day!!

I don't understand this behavior, but these guys were scooting arround and flapping their wings against the water creating a lot of noise and splashing. The birds in the audience just watched with amusement.

It's nice to see something this rare to show up just outside your window. Three adults showed up.

This shot looking out of my rain soaked lanai is the best I'm gonna get today. It has been raining constantly for 2 days now with a total of about 3 1/4 inches and over 12 inches for the month.

This little guy lives in either the oak tree in our back yard or one of the palms in the front. He can be seen "screen walking" almost any day.

There were 10 Whistling Ducks feeding on spillage from my bird and squirrel feeders in my yard yesterday.

This is the second of a series of four photos I made while strolling through the backyard of our San Francisco home. I am always delighted there are so many photo opportunities right outside our back door. Actually this flower and watering can was in our next door neighbor's backyard. It was easy to photograph since the fence between yards is more of a property divider than for privacy.

These are some of the roses in our backyard. They seem to survive and thrive in spite of what we do.

Hollering for his momma.

And I very much appreciate it.

I made this photo of a white and purple flower after I had watered the steep back yard of the Teddy Ave property that was Melody's home for over two decades in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley District. We have rented the house out since Melody moved into my home just over the hill after we married in 2014. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50.

This is the third of a series of four photos I made while strolling through the backyard of our San Francisco home. I am always delighted there are so many photo opportunities right outside our back door. This is a nasturtium peeking though our back fence. Though nasturtiums are pleasant enough looking, they can be quite invasive and I try to limit their presence in our yard.

My brown duck decided to go blonde.

1930s birdbath beauties on an Azo RPPC.

They arrived a bit late this year and the female is MIA but our almost annual feathered pool partyers are here.

This was taken on January 7, 2007 in my backyard. I love this little guys. I went out and bought two feeders and was told that they won't work. Well I guess I had to prove them wrong. As you can see the hummingbirds like them. I had to crop it out as the feeder was to the left. I wanted to get a tighter crop.

I hope you enjoy them.

Last weekend I noticed a fish skeleton between my fence and the water and had no idea where it came from or how it got there. This Black Vulture solved the mystery this afternoon as he and a partner were cleaning up a dead Tilapia behind my house in Parrish, FL.

A baby bird learning to fly in the back yard.

Once again this morning I was visited by the Black Bellied Whistling Ducks. I put out bird food yesterday and that draws everything in the neighborhood. Good photo-ops.

Ready for launch!! Mrs. Cardinal on the fence in the neighbour's yard.

I made this photo in the late Spring evening in our San Francisco backyard. I generally avoid photos that seem cluttered. I decided to shot this splash of orange nasturtiums among their green leaves even though the evening light was very harsh. I don't encourage nasturtiums in our backyard because they like to spread. These flowers were coming over our back fence from a neighboring yard. If you look closely, you can see the bee on one of the orange flowers in the right bottom of this photo. In fact, the bee buzzing around these flowers first attracted me to capture this image using my Canon Powershot SX50.

Well its time for the flowers to bloom in our backyard again. I love photographing these. This is a series shot with my Nex7 and some extension rings.

Dug out my little Nikon Coolpix. It amazes me how close I can get to things with this camera.

Still in the blossoms that have dried up. These lovely plants are in my back yard herb garden.
