The "back yard" of the Menor Ferry general store.

"Bill Menor traveled from Ohio to Montana before settling in 1892 on the Snake River “where the river was altogether in one place.” He found that the river flow near present-day Moose narrowed to a single channel that could be crossed more easily than the wide, braided channels that comprise most of the Snake River. During the next decade, he built his cabin one room at a time. His brother, Holiday, settled on the other side of the Snake River and operated a limekiln.

Bill painted the general store with whitewash from Holiday’s limekiln. In the early 1900s, the store and ferry drew homesteaders and dudes alike, ordering supplies and crossing the river. Bill also operated a smokehouse and blacksmith shop, raised vegetables supplying produce to the local dude ranches, and served as postmaster. In 1918, he sold his homestead and ferry operation to Maud Noble. Today, period furnishings fill the cabin, and the storekeeper still sells period goods to visitors who venture to the store. Grand Teton Association manages the store; open seven days a week during the peak summer season." from the Grand Teton National Park website -- www.nps.gov/grte/learn/historyculture/menor.htm

Amongst the plethora of architecture dating back to Garachico's heyday in the late 15th to early 18th Centuries, when it was the island's principal port, before the 1706 eruption filled it's deep harbour, there are also a number of impressive Art Deco buildings and details, as indeed, one will also find in Santa Cruz.

This building, the cafeteria Proa Norte in Garachico, really needs no translation, appearing, as so many Art Deco buildings do, like the prow of a ship - or better a liner from those golden days of sea travel. It aptly stands at the end of the "new" land that was created when that deep water harbour was filled in.

Virtual newcomers to the bounty game, and the second set of identical twins to appear on "American Bounty, is the Bounty Hunting team of Back and Forth. Little is known about this pair, however it is rumored that they, themselves are fugitives with high prices on their collective heads...

Back favors up close and personal, down and dirty, in your face action, while Forth is the camper of the pair, favoring a nice view and a high-powered rifle with spotting scope. From what little we've seen of Back and Forth in action...this should be a pair to watch.
