Recently came upon this photo from my archives. It was taken in 2009 and is looking over Back Cove and Woodfords Corner towards Mt. Washington (I think) in the far distance.

In memory of my beloved father.
I miss him every day. Not to mention his little stories. One day, out of the blue, he recounted a short scene in a movie he saw more than 50 years ago: a guy was telling another the story of two young people madly in love with each other. The girl was still living with her parents; however, as a condition to move together with her lover, she asked him to leave town for a period of two years; additionally, during this period he was supposed to abstain from laughing (or even smiling).
The young man duly complied with these two (quite exotic) requirements and came back home after exactly two years. Close to arriving at the girl's house he noticed a lot of people in its garden. He entered the house and shortly thereafter started laughing.
At this moment, my father asked me: "Why did he laugh? You have five minutes to think about it!"
...The (not so surprising) answer? The man saw a coffin in the house; the girl had died several days before.
This is a drawing I did a few years ago, based a photo of a weightlifter - was never too happy with the way it turned out originally. I've been experimenting with the way I render color and light a bit recently., so I thought I might dig it out and play around with it. It's a bit more detailed and fussy than my drawings usually are -- not sure if that's a direction I want to go in, or if I should be pushing towards simplicity. But that's what sketching and drawing is great for. Always good to experiment with processes. Who knows, I might even start working with ink and paper again one of these days.
I was happy to be dockside again and back in my FE jacket. Squall or no squall we got our pots in cause that's what we do...

Apparently these buses comprise RTS's contingency fleet. The pinkish one and the light blue one on the right are ex-LYNX buses.

This is the back of the lodge where the band played. I didn't stay late like everyone else...was a party pooper and went to bed! lol...you can see the tops of the cabins out there...they were so cozy...had little fire places and I'm so glad...it's so cold up there in the mountains...wow! This place is in Idaho. Lochsa Lodge. :) Large view is best. I know these kinds of photos probably aren't as interesting to others...kinda wedding related stuff is what I mean. I'll be done with them soon! :)

After two years of long expectation and longing... I'm coming back to Iran for three weeks... I'm coming home.
As I was born and raised in France, some may think that Iran is not my "home", and that I do not have the right to call myself an Iranian.
But I am Iranian, and proud to be. I may not know it as much as those who were raised there, but Iran is my homeland.
And I will the most excited of all when our plane will touch Iran's ground, when they will announce "Welcome to Tehran"...and when the doors will open... the wonderful air of "khaake Iran" (Iran's soil) will reach my nose, and its heat will caress my face. And I will lay my eyes on the beautiful mountains surrounding Tehran.
And feel home.
