or perhaps 'companion planting'.

The chilli plant has a friend, parsley, planted in another mosaic pot yesterday.

Out of shot, the pots are positioned in a bird bath.

Just a few minutes back yard shots. Distant sparrows and a few gulls were all that obliged. This one has the characteristic red eye circle but can't tell if it's a Great or Lesser.

Strangely you can;t see them in this pic, but there's a blue 1x1 round plate between every dish and every yellow 1x1 plate.

A color version of an old car left to decay. This one attracted me as its paint is peeling back to either its original color or just plain old rust!

Just got an id back from the experts & it turned out to be new for me. There is no common name for genus or species but it is part of the family of shield-backed bugs. Not a beetle but a true bug. Kin to stink bugs but different family. It was feeding off the juices of a giant ragweed plant at the lake.

Back home in the rolling hills of rural Skokie.

Here's the back of the bag partner. The heart is my first attempt at paper piecing- I really like the technique!

Wouldn't it be nice if I could turn my back on work as easily as this? It would be nicer still if I could face work like this!

Recently repainted 3642 drops downgrade towards Picton during the Thirlmere Festival of Steam 2023.

3642 carried its previous lined green livery since it was returned to active service by the State Rail Authority in 1981.

The engine operated tour trains throughout New South Wales and into Victoria until being withdrawn in 1996, being put on static display at the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum until 2006 when it was once again overhauled, returning to traffic in 2008.

Here is the other side of that black dress. It was difficult to get decent photos in the strange light, so I just started dancing to the music for a while. This is the best of the images that resulted.

Leaving aside the broad shoulders, I think this works well. Even the boots look better here.

I actually went out for a walk in the early evening in this outfit - with a coat on, obviously - and I found that that the heels are higher than I remembered once I hit the pavements, taking shorter and shorter steps.

It took me a long time to complete the not very long round trip. Unfortunately, I am not as good at walking in high heels as I used to be - I used to manage these with ease.

All but the first six DL500Bs built in Australia were double ended, unfortunately the B end being a lot less photogenic than the A 'cab' end.

Wherever possible I avoided pics of them B end leading, but for historical relevance I include this shot of 4471/4497 climbing Exeter bank with empty limestone 2Y11 from Berrima cement works to Marulan quarry on 22 March 1994.

I don't usually photograph captive birds, but I had to post this one in exquisite light, which I found in my archive today.

All comments and favs sincerely appreciated.

Another of my finds from yesterday's drive down some unknown back roads. This is in the Dickson Dam area in central Alberta.

It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that the gardens were filled with these luscious lovelies...
