And if there's no tomorrow and all we have is here and now

I'm happy just to have you, you're all the love I need somehow

It's like a dream, although I'm not asleep

So go on, go on

Come on, leave me breathless

A very calm sunset at Culzean Castle with Ailsa Craig in the distance. Never seen the sea so calm here, not a wave in sight.

There wasn't a breath of wind as the sun rose on this misty morning...

A very still morning, with the sun rising on the slopes of Peak M above Upper Slate Lake in the Nuchu (aka Gore) Range of central Colorado. While the stillness of the morning air was not so unexpected, the lack of trout hitting the surface of the lake for rising midges was more of a surprise, providing a truly wonderful mirror.

The odd system of naming peaks in the Nuchu Range using letters is part of a tradition of climbers taking advantage of the lack of USGS assigned names. Given the Euro-American tradition of naming geographic features after people who had nothing to do with that feature (e.g. Mt McKinley) maybe it's best to use the lettered names. At least the name for the wilderness area the range is in has some poetic value- Eagles Nest.

I will be on travel and out of internet service for the next week, so please forgive my not commenting and faving your wonderful Flickr posts. I look forward to seeing them on my return, hopefully with all my fingers and toes intact.

I've often wondered, do you feel the same?...+

Nothing I could say would have anything to add to what the waterfall itself has already spoken to you.

Magic moments on Esthwaite Water as the sunrise breaks through the fog and lifts into a glorious day in the Lake District. There's a version of this photo on my photostream from 5 minutes earlier. I initially chose that one because the sun hadn't quite broken through and the highlights were not clipping. But this one somehow matches my memory much better, it was blindingly bright for a few minutes, the fog glowed and the cold mist turned warm.

The magnificent Cadini di Misurina from our last visit to the Dolomites. It's hard to really take in the grandeur of these wonderful mountains, they leave you Breathless, by Nick Cave, who we'll be seeing soon in Cardiff. I must get back to the Dolomites again.

In trying to beat the light to my preferred location for sunset this night, I ended up at Powell Point along the south rim trail both out of time and out of breath...not only from the physical but from this view... leaving me breathless.

The view from this vantage point at the top of Taquile Island in Lake Titicaca at 13,000 feet will take your breath away, literally, as you climb to the top of the island. Taquileños are one of the oldest inhabitants of Lake Titicaca and now allow tourists to stay on the island and experience their way of life. Taquileños are well known for their expertly made textiles, identified by UNESCO and are also known for their unusual gender roles, something not found anywhere else in Peru. Starting at age 8, males learn to knit and do so exclusively while women, only, make yarn and weave.

Thanks to everyone who recently faved or awarded this image, and that I haven't yet thanked. I try to keep up, but as everyone on Flickr already knows that can be really hard to do!!!! And please do not use my work for anything without my permission.

Another shot from the breathtaking sunrise from the St. Gotthard/ Ein zweites Bild von dem atemberaubenden Sonnenaufgang auf dem St. Gotthard.

I like this abstract shot. It's a morning sunrise at Nobby's beach, one of many I've captured, but none where the transition of water to the sand on the shorelines seems to meld into nothing and then a solid transition into a kind of surreal sky. I think if I didn't explain what this picture was, people would be looking at it for ages wondering what it could be.

This is an image from my first backpacking trip. The joy of wandering through majestic Patagonia, sleeping under the stars, waking to alpen glow, the taste of fresh glacial water, the whispers of the wind through the trees combined with the sounds of waterfalls all left me in complete awe of this place. On this particular hike we camped the night before to rest from the steep climb with our heavy gear. The next day we awoke well before dawn in order to traverse 3 miles in the dark through a boulder ravine. It took longer than we expected and when we finally arrived at this location realized that we still had another 400-600 ft of steep slope to traverse for the best vantage point for the shot. I was with my dear friend Steve Dondero. I realized I would only slow him down and cost us both the shot. We were running out of time. So I decided to shoot a different composition while Steve raced up the mountain slope with the agility of a mountain goat. I have shared my shot of this place earlier. When Steve gave me his shot to process it brought back memories of never ending hikes, innumerable drinks of mate, so many silly stories and countless laughs. Its such a pleasure to be able to create a visual that atleast in part can convey what was a truly unforgettable experience. This shot is inspired by the work of Marc Adamus and Ted Gore. If you have not already checked out their shots of this place, I urge you to do so. It was their work that inspired me to go on this trip :))
