Today we had finally some sunshine, so I went out with my camera to the beach. When I was leaving, I noticed some heather blooming beside the road, the second time around this year! The bokeh circles are from cars on the street.

Auf dem Gletscher am Zugspitzblatt lag zumindest im Jahr 2005 auch im Juli noch Schnee !
A shot taken from the highest point of the road between Arequipa and Chivay in Peru. The altitude here is 4,800m (15,750ft) and the air is very thin making it difficult to breathe, hence the title. We were on the way back from the Colca Canyon and the bus stopped at this point. We got off and had a little walk and took a few pictures. That was quite enough exercise at this altitude and left us panting for breath. The mountain in the distance is Ampato at 6,388m (21,000ft).

i had a great night last might watching Afro Celt Soundsystem in Cardiff. Their music is infectious and so full of life and colour so I needed a photo to try and give that sense of fun and life affirming enthusiasm. After so much dancing everyone was Breathless, by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

I have been around the mountains all my life and i can still remember the first time i saw them.... they took my breath away, in such a way, where i felt closed in.... almost clausterphobic and i couldnt breathe. I had an undesirable urge to escape the overpowering walls. Afraid of the unknown! NOW, however, they take my breath away in awe....i cant tear my eyes away. They empower me and give me strength, like i can conquer anything. I have So much respect for the mountains that are always changing and can deliver harshness and beauty all in the same breath.......
This is for all the people who are battling sickness or disease or just everyday crap right now. I give you a tower of strength the Cowgirl way : )

A rare opportunity.. cold temps in South Dakota without accompanying strong winds. It was about 12 degrees F and I was wishing for colder weather.. I don't wish for that often! It would have been better for this exercise however if the temp had been closer to zero.
But this was the best chance I would get in the foreseeable future to try taking a photo of a frozen bubble.
Yes.. after blowing the bubble.. you hold your breath..
waiting for the crystals to form and afraid that the slightest wind might pop it.
There are so many things I could have done to get a better photo.. like backlighting the bubble.
Oh well.. maybe next time.
