Maize ears and seed from a Brazilian landrace, dent in type and yellow in color.
CIMMYT’s maize germplasm bank contains about 28,000 unique samples of cultivated maize and its wild relatives, teosinte and Tripsacum. These include about 26,000 samples of maize landraces—traditional, locally-adapted varieties that are rich in diversity. The bank both conserves this diversity and makes it available as a resource for breeding.

In the last two years I've spent almost 6 months on assignments for various magazines in Brazil. I've partied through carnival in Rio and worked on stories in the favelas. I shot assignments in Sao Paulo and Amazon and went on several long treks around the jungles of Rio state and Ilha Grande. Hope to get back soon!

The Brazilica Festival is the largest celebration of Brazilian culture in the United Kingdom that has been held annually in Liverpool, England since July 2008. It is produced by the Liverpool Carnival Company, an organisation that has operated as a registered charity since 2007. The festival began during Liverpool's reign as European Capital of Culture in 2008 when a Rio-style Carnival Parade swept through the streets of the city. In its current format, the festival consists of a week-long celebration of Brazilian culture including music, art, food, film and dance events that take place at indoor venues across the city which build up to an outdoor city centre carnival street party that takes place in Williamson Square and samba carnival parade.
The Liverpool Samba School was set up by husband and wife creative team Roger and Maeve Morris in 1995. The school performed at the Rio Carnival in 2000 and wanted to bring a touch of the Carnival's magic to streets in their own city. In 2007, the creative team established the Liverpool Carnival Company with an aim of delivering a Carnival event the following year.

I wrote some code in Processing that averaged a minute's worth of video frames into one still. The first thing I unleashed it on was Terry Gilliam's "Brazil". These are some of the results.

Pantanal, Brazil - Crab-eating fox, also called Savanna Fox, or Crab-eating Dog, (Cerdocyon thous), South American member of the dog family (Canidae), found in grassy or forested areas. It attains a length of 60–70 cm (24–28 inches), excluding a 30-centimetre tail, and has a gray to brown coat that is frequently tinged with yellow. It generally lives alone or in pairs and spends the day in a burrow, emerging at night to hunt for such foods as small animals, fruit, insects, turtle eggs, and fowl. It is easily tamed and is sometimes kept as a pet by Indians.
