...and now for something completely different. You know spring has properly sprung in Scotland when you don't have to wear seven layers of clothing and when the blossom looks as beautiful as this.

I have no idea what tree this blossom belongs to but the pink against the blue sky caught my eye as I walked home from the train station after a street shoot in town. Have no fear, I am still a people photographer, but other things do catch my eye from time to time. Enjoy!

Blossoms from last year. A reminder that this winter should soon be over.

Pretty pear

Our wee pear tree usually gives us a lovely display of blossom – and this year is no exception. However, it’s not always a reliable indication that fruit will follow.

But with blossom this beautiful, fruit is an added bonus.

"The perfect blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life."

This phrase from the movie "The Last Samurai" came to mind for obvious reasons as we wandered under the large blooming trees

A plum blossom from our neighbour's tree that borders the property. The red plums are too small to eat, though the raccoons and squirrels love to eat them, and they do make a lovely plum jelly.

Cherry blossoms of early bloom.

This is the first cherry blossom this year.

Scanned from slide film.

I took this photo in the past (13th May 1997).

This viburnum usually blooms in early spring but this winter has been so strange that it started to bloom in December and then got hit with a winter storm.

To me, the' Queen' of the blooming fruit trees is the blossom of an apple tree.

She shouldn't be missed in my "Spring" set.

Für mich ist die 'Königin' der blühenden Obstbäume die Apfelblüte.

Sie sollte in meinem "Frühlings"-Set nicht fehlen.

Blossoming in time for Easter, this is the 'Golden Hornet' that my brother planted this spring! Looking forward to seeing the little apples being raided by members of the thrush family in the autumn!

'Golden Hornet' is a small deciduous tree with a broad ovoid crown and white flowers followed by a profuse crop of bright, deep yellow fruits 2.5cm in length, which persist well into winter
