I rarely see Black-capped Chickadees at home since we have Carolinas in the piedmont of Maryland. Quite a treat to see so many and study the differences between them.

i still find these with the dots on their top side a bit odd, but it could be pink and purple...lol, there is no mistaking that black widow body shape...i dont like spiders but she was a pretty little girl....i found her accidentally while flipping over rocks looking for lizards to put in my flower beds =)

This is a black widow I found on the back porch last night when I went out to turn off the hose. It was hanging upside down and I could barely make out the red markings on it's belly with a flashlight. I took this picture from a foot away with flash in macromode at 3x zoom.
