I always take the opportunity to take a shot of a breeding plumage BBP. We usually get them in alternate.

Nearing the end of the rutting season the Fallow Bucks start to loose weight due to the exertion of battle. They are constantly distracted from eating during the season defending Doe harem' and chancing competitors. This one has managed to bear little scars and has his antlers are intact. He may not have managed to secure a prize this year as a result.

More hummingbird photos that I shot in my backyard, Yakima County, Washington. Although I didn't photograph the Anna's, I saw male and female Black-chinned, female or juvenile Rufous, and female or juvenile Anna's. I need to brush up on how to distinguish female from juvenile hummingbirds.

Hummingbird in my backyard. They have been very active recently. I have Rufous, Anna's and Black-chinned Hummingbirds now but the Rufous and Black-chined will be flying south soon. was lucky to get all 3 species in a single day. Many are likely flying south now.
